I’ve washed a down jacket a few times- cool wash. The instructions on mine said to tumble dry with old trainer to fluff it up. Worked fine.

Wow, NotAGran, there's brave!

I didn’t bother reading the washing instructions on one of mine when I spilled coffee on it . I washed it on a 30 degree 20 minute wash followed by a tumble dry and it came out as new .

Thanks for the tips. DH has just read on the label that the item will probably deteriorate naturally within three years! I still think they're great, though, light, thin and very warm. I also have a longer coat from Uniqlo in the same fabric that I wore all through last winter. Like you, Jane, I am being very careful to keep them clean!

I've got Uniqlo ultra light down clothing too. Warm and practical aren't they?
I bung the items in the washing machine on a cool hand wash, then hang them to drip dry. You have to fluff up the down quite a bit when it's dry.
A faff actually, which rather takes away my comment about the clothing being practical doesn't it! Still love the clothing though!

I have a down jacket from Rab.
Instructions are to get it cleaned professionally by a specialist cleaner.
But if you must wash it, use Nikwax Down Wash following instructions on the bottle.
Wash at 30C
Tumble dry to regain loft.
Do not dry clean.
More info at www.nikwax.com
Hope that helps. I’m being very careful not to spill anything on mine!

I have a jacket made of this stuff which I bought from Uniqlo last year. The instructions on the label say to wash it by hand in a mild liquid detergent. I think I've also read somewhere that it is better to use cold water although the label does not specifically say so. I'm wondering if I could get away with giving it a cool and gentle wash in the washing machine. Has anyone tried this and was it successful? Thanks in advance for any advice.
