We have had great tits nesting in the box in our garden. Just notice a pair checking it out. I wonder if it’s the same pair every year? It’s such a joy to watch them and see the babies when they hatch. We can see them from the kitchen window. Is it the same pair, do you think?
They are beautiful, In Spring we watch them building the nest, such hard work flying back and to, both the male and female. We put bird seed out and we have a bird bath which they love. They bring such joy for so little outlay. They bring us so much pleasure. If you haven’t thought before I hope you consider getting one.
I've been checking all the bird sites to try to find the answer, but haven't so far.
They do say that few small birds re-use a nest in the same place, maybe so they don't attract predators, even for a second brood, so maybe it is a different pair if the same is true for nest boxes. I'm not sure great tits even have the same mate two years running - but I'm no expert
