it turns out that the publicity shy couple were so keen on privacy that they didnt even want the £38 million wedding we were forced into paying for them, blimey, they could have said something earlier, like before the public coughed up a fortune for security, A list celeb guests and more melodrama than an x factor sob story, they are now claiming they wanted none of that because " it didnt feel like their day ", but they went through it anyway, bless em. They told Oprah that they actually had a private exchange of vows three days before, just the two of them were present as well as the archbishop of canterbury - perfectly normal behaviour, , now that they have aired all their laundry in public to the whole world, they are off to work on that private life they claim to crave, At least until the next big interview comes up

M has written a children's book called 'The Bench' by Meghan The Duchess of Sussex. Gosh that royal title sure is useful isn't ithmm

I suppose anyone famous can get a book published, but the samples I’ve seen of this one (which i in verse) are absolute doggerel.

"then finding a few years down the line weren't working well" but they didn't wait a few years did they trisher. It's been said time and time again on these threads that there was nothing wrong with them walking away, had they done so correctly and not spat their dummies out, because they couldn't have their pick of the trappings, that went with 'the job' they didn't want to do.

Not to mention the public trashing of H's family which if the rumours are to be believed will be happening again, when the extended version of 'Finding Freedom' is released which will include details of the conversations H had with his father and brother at his GF's funeral.

We can only hope that the rumours have no basis in fact, rather like that interview.

Arguably Smileless2012 they didn't wait to have a baby either. As far as I know there are no written rules about how long you have to try something before you realise you don't like it. Why should anyone have to live a life they hate and have no choice about what they do?

merlotgran Tue 04-May-21 20:07:51

Meghan’s book - exploring the relationship between fathers and sons.

Oh the irony.

It’s not what they’ve done, it’s the way that they’ve done it.

Alegrias1 Tue 04-May-21 20:24:19

I see that there's another thread about the couple we love to hate. Most of us with no vitriol to pour on the pair of them have done what we've been told and stayed off it. (Sorry, TAAT. Maybe somebody can report me.)

5 posts. It's almost like there's nothing really to say about M&H unless there's an audience to hear it.

Now, where's that hard hat.....

Anniebach Tue 04-May-21 20:35:29

Agree merlotgran if they decided life in the royal family for
them yes walk away, but they didn’t just walk way, they wanted
freedom, privacy, yet kept their titles, gave interviews and topped all with that Oprah interview and slagged off his family and as if that wasn’t enough they lied.

What of the privacy they claimed they wanted.

They shouldn’t have to live a life they hate, no one should. But they didn’t need to give that interview, and tell world about private, family things. That should never have happened. But it did, and it tells us something about the kind of people who would do that.

Bizarre. Started by the same OP? What is that all about?

I was thinking they could be used to promote H&M 🤗 - bring in a bob or two.

Oh great, thanks a bunch OP.
I spend time in my first two comments trying to deflect criticism of the OP and end up heaping it on myself from various quarters. At least I have strength in my own cvonvicyions to keep at it, the OP never came back once did they?

Lucca Wed 05-May-21 09:15:22

Correct. OP started two threads the same and didn’t return !

Sadly Harry and Meghan were to be a part of the slimmed down RF. Their main responsibility was to be the Commonwealth where they could and would have been an enormous asset to the RF and this country. A very popular, seemingly very nice couple, a great support to Charles and particularly William when he becomes king. The fab four in fact! Very sad that tacky hurtful untruthful interviews trashing your own family, embarrassing the Aof C and other clergy and megga bucks proved more alluring . Of course they were at liberty to live their lives as they see fit, we all want that, but most of don't and didn't make a living from our dead mother, trashing our nearest relatives even if we don't care for them , embarrassing the person who married us and referring to an event put on for us at someone else's expense as a sideshow, (presumably for the masses/peasants) and use our children to make yet more money by writing a book which is fact cribbed from elsewhere. All very disappointing, and I still find it hard to understand how P.H could and does go along with this especially when his father and brother, were clearly going to be deeply hurt and his elderly, one dying , grandparents deeply distressed. How could anyone do that, in public, for the world to see and gossip about. I can't believe anyone of us would have behaved in such a way, even if we had hated them? Just downright cruel.

Well put Jabberwocky.

The commonwealth doesn't need the RF They should ditch the Royals The RF have no roll to play It is not hereditary the queen put those in charge on the spot asked if Charles could take over from her, nepotism Mrs May came back and agreed. The commonwealth is made up of 54 independent countries and any country can join.

Why do we need all these Royals in a job sharing what an elected president focused on his written down and limited role would play magnificently serving this country.

So you see the RF are not white as white the institution of monarchy is corrupt in public office for private gain and the Royals are allowed to get away it.

So you can't blame this couple who think they have been wronged by this institution puting it in front of the public wanting their share too. Remember the Royals always get what they want, for nothing.

The scandals and corruption of the Royal Family are endless – from The Queen lobbying the government to change laws to her benefit, to Prince Philip’s lifetime of racist slurs, to Prince Andrew fraternizing with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

I will concede one thing The queen played a good game she believed as queen. The others are only playing.

That's my opinion ha

Callistemon Wed 05-May-21 19:33:41

In whose opinion? Have you canvassed The Commonwealth?

Would they want to be aligned to a small island in the Northern Hemisphere were it not for the Royal Family?

Callistemon Wed 05-May-21 19:34:25

That's my opinion ha

Ah! I see
Ha!

Smileless2012 Wed 05-May-21 19:39:10

That certainly wasn't the impression the Commonwealth countries gave in the aftermath of PP's death.

Ro60 Wed 05-May-21 20:01:43

GranyFor a nation to join the Commonwealth, it must first recognize Elizabeth II as the head of the Commonwealth. Other criteria are equally important and include racial equality and the embrace of world peace, liberty, human rights, equality, and free trade.
We here in the UK have a Prime Minister not a President - the Queen is our Head of State

Alegrias1 Wed 05-May-21 20:56:30

The Queen is Head of the Commonwealth only by dint of being Head of the Commonwealth, not because she is Queen. In 2018 she lobbied for Charles to take over from her when she's gone and that was agreed, because after all, who is going to deny an elderly lady what she wants? It didn't need to be Charles, it could have been anybody they wanted it to be.

Being Head of State of the UK doesn't mean you automatically get to be Head of the Commonwealth.

Aveline Wed 05-May-21 20:59:06

Ooh. Can anyone apply then? Could be fun.

Alegrias1 Wed 05-May-21 21:01:09

Guess so Aveline. You might have to arm wrestle Charles for it though 😂
