I havent clicked on your links ElderlyPerson Im sorry but most jazz irritates me.
Yes I know, I should give it time, but I dont know if I have enough time left grin

ElderlyPerson Sat 26-Jun-21 20:29:23

That's OK. Freedom of choice.

No "should" about it. I am relaxing and producing these music threads. If people click the links and enjoy the music, then fine, but I am not someone who tries to force my choices on anybody else. It may be that very few people have played the videos.

In time the threads will drift off Active threads and just be in the Other archive. Maybe someone will discover them serendipitously in the future.

Lilypops Sat 26-Jun-21 20:37:05

Most jazz to me sounds as if the band is playing all the wrong notes all together.

MawBe Sat 26-Jun-21 20:42:16

No Lilypops they are playing the right notes but (all together now) not necessarily in the right order. Boom, boom ???

Namsnanny Sat 26-Jun-21 22:15:51

I like that thought ElderlyPerson, that someone might just 'happen' across some music threads they like.

Years ago I wrote a happy message in the back of one of my childrens school books, which she didnt get to for about a year. She said it was a lovely surprise.

Basil Brush or Morecambe and Wise MawBe? grin

Anniebach Sat 26-Jun-21 22:33:10

I love Jazz

Namsnanny Sat 26-Jun-21 22:40:46

I'm probably wrong, but I always thought people who could enjoy jazz were a bit more intelligent, or had brains that could make sense of it!

Anniebach Sat 26-Jun-21 22:49:56

Now you know you were wrong

Bellanonna Sat 26-Jun-21 23:24:16

I really enjoyed those pieces, ElderlyPerson!

I know a few professional musicians who love jazz, and they are unusually bright.

Talented clarinettist in Over The Wave. Thank you for sharing.

Jazz has a zillion different voices and timbres. This is miles away from New Orleans, but equally jazzy, The tune is dedicated to the late Joe Pass, who would periodically perform on Parkinson.

I've no time for Modern Jazz but love Trad Jazz. Stefan Grappelli was a genius.

Chewie I poured Stephane quite a few tots of whiskey!
He was at our Jazz Festival one year, i was backstage, he would
play, walk off, quick whisky back on stage , yes he was a genius

olddudders Sun 27-Jun-21 13:38:29

Grappelli? Here he is with Michel Legrand, one of France's most important musicians since WW2. A superb piece of musical excellence.

You lucky devil Annie! I can't think of one piece he ever played that had a bum note in it. Probably thanks, in part, to you keeping him well oiled!
