How is it in supermarkets and shops please? I have my groceries delivered and so I do not know how it is in the shops.

I have found in the smaller tescos it's a bit rubbish, I do a lot online but do some in real life. At the Tesco extras its usually ok.

I think it varies from week to week and, which supermarket you use. Our local Asda and M&S seem to be well stocked but, the Tesco's (very large Superstore) doesn't seems to have quite a few shortages

I've found different things missing at different times. Recently it was cat food! Mostly no shortages though. Just price increases!

I've been unable to buy Dijon mustard recently. It's not in Tesco or Aldi

Haven’t noticed any difference in my shopping to be honest I go to Asda Morrisons or Aldi (not all at once)

There have been occasional gaps on some shelves in Sainsbury's but only for a couple of days. No problems at Aldi.

Seems OK here - Sainsbury's, Tesco's, Aldi and Lidl depending on which part of town I happen to be in.
Tesco's ran out of Soda Bic for some unknown reason the other day but back in stock now.

Not too bad - as others say some things run out but not like during 1st lockdown.

Price increases I've noticed over the last year.

Branded cat food up by about 15%.

Butter up by about 30%.

Brexit effect. I won't pay the astronomical prices. I'm buying cheaper products. And eating less butter.

I read earlier that Tesco have removed some Heinz products from their shelves due to a pricing dispute. Ketchup, baked beans and tomato soup etc. It might be a good opportunity for those who are loyal to brand names to give supermarket brands a try.

Grandmabatty apparently there's a shortage of Dijon Mustard in France. A poor harvest I think.

Greenfinch Wed 29-Jun-22 21:30:38

Lack of UHT semi skimmed milk in cartons in Tesco. Plenty of skimmed though.

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Jun-22 21:38:29

Deeda that would explain it. Ta

Canning food needs steam under pressure, at a temperature of around 125 Celsius, to preserve the food. Heating water to produce the steam needs energy. Energy costs money, energy costs have risen dramatically.

Weirdly: face flannels and Ramer bath sponges in shops that previously had loads to choose from.

Not noticed any food shortages around here. Shelves seem very well stocked.

Mamardoit Thu 30-Jun-22 08:09:20

I've always found the shelves very well stocked. The quality has been good too.

The mustard has at last returned in France after about 6 weeks absence

I used to be fussy re brand names with certain items - beans, tea bags etc. We tried a tin of Aldi baked beans. They are far nicer than Heinz. No watery sauce. We also buy Aldi tea bags. They are great.

I have deliveries from Ocado, I think it helps that they confirm a regular basket ahead of time. Generally items that are out of stock are marked during the ordering process.

elleks Thu 30-Jun-22 11:47:07

I prefer any own brand beans to Heinz. I think they're very overrated.

schnackie Thu 30-Jun-22 11:48:47

Oddly I think, my local Aldi has been out of my preferred sweetener (sucralose tablets) for a couple of weeks now. I found some on Amazon and bought quite a bit.
