Didn't get past the first question. I cannot get my head round 'inspirational' . I just don't do inspirational. Had they asked for women who are successful or have made a difference to our lives - that isn't inspirational, they could be leading or be part of a scientific team with a lot of men doing the same work but who are equally unknown, who have made some medical advance that we are benefitting from without really noticing,.

The fact that you then ask lots of questions about the Duchess of Sussex and a Vogue cover makes my points. With due respect, what is inspirational about her? She was a successful actress and is now still finding her feet as a minor member of the royal family. As far as I know she has not done anything remarkable in her life beyond being good at her job in the career she chose to follow - and there are lots of successful female actors around.

Later on it implies we may need help from newspapers with things such as clothing choice for Christmas and "activity planning"

I obviously didn't get that far notspaghetti as when I skipped through the first set of questions because I couldn't answer them, or rather because there was no 'other' or 'none of the above' boxes, I was not allowed to go any further into the questionnaire.

As someone who was once a specialist in questionnaire design, most questionnaires appearing on GN, whether generated by GN staff or generated externally but approvedby GN, leave me with my head in my hands overcome by despair.

I agree with a lot of the readers. I can't see anything inspirational about the Duchess of Sussex.

As to my planning for Christmas it is already well underway.

Nothing inspirational about her at all. She is famous for being famous. Inspirational women, for me, aren't celebs and certainly not royalty. Inspirational women try to make life better for others in different ways. Some are no longer living, but are still inspirational (Emmeline Pankhurst, to name one).
As to Christmas, what's the big deal? I'm spending far less on it; it's unnecessary and wasteful. Would prefer ideas on how to make our own decorations, celebrate minimally, cook our own food from scratch, make things last or re-purpose them. Those would make ideal magazine features or tv programmes. Around now I soak fruit for cake and/or pudding and start thinking of what I can bake in advance and freeze. Presents are for the grandchildren, with treats for our daughters (a massage or treatment voucher or similar) rather than things they might not want. Other adult family members have a pact though elderly MIL gets smellies or a scarf - and that's about it for us!

I am not sure I agree. To be inspirational you need to stand head and shoulders above the crowd and have people who use your example to do truly great things by world standards, not personal

I think that what we should all endeavour to be is as good example to someone orto hope that we encouraged someone to follow a path they may not have followed without our support or example.
