Setting up my MIL! (From DIL)

I am not a Grannie but asking on behalf of one - my mother-in-law! She is single, in her 60's and is looking for love. She has asked for my help. So, how does a Grannie meet a like-minded Grandad?

She comes up to my home town (Cambridge) once a week to babsy sit my 16 month old DD and I would like to see if I could help her 'bump' into someone special. She is musical (plays the cornet), likes the theatre, has a dog and loves her garden.

All advice greatly appreciated!

Carefully, to misquote the answer to a question about how porcupines make love. But it is not impossible, there is a nice grandad out there somewhere who will appreciate her.

If she just goes out into the jungle looking for "lurve" she might find a version of it that she does not want. There are online dating sites for older people, if she picks a good one, and then picks her candidate with care from those offered.

Sometimes the best meetings are those which are not pre-arranged. When a friend was widowed after many years of happy marriage, she was not looking for a new man. she went out of the house a lot to follow the interests she had always had, and tried new ones, including, a few years later, a holiday themed to her favourite hobby.

On the same trip was a man of her own age, who had himself been widowed five years previously and was as keenly interested as herself in their mutual hobby. The more they talked, the more they found they had in common - including having been very happy previously, and not at all seeking a replacement. Despite that, they are now an item.

Awe - a sweet story!

What are good dating sites for Grans and Grandads? Are there Grans and Grandad clubs?
