www.sciencealert.com/scientists-have-measured-a-perceptual-ability-called-o-how-good-is-yours?

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Jul-22 15:38:03

Is there a test / quiz hidden somewhere in there?

Elegran Fri 01-Jul-22 17:14:34

It is well hidden. jasonkchow.github.io/ov_demo/

I did the test, but when I went back to answer your question, I almost gave up on finding it again. There is a paragraph that reads "In follow-up studies, we've found that o applies in the same way to artificial and real objects, and that people with high o are better at computing summary statistics for groups of objects (such as estimating the "average" of several objects) and also better at recognizing objects by touch. You can compare yourself to others in this short demo." and a link takes you to the short demo. It is quicker to follow my link.

I am surprisingly rubbish at this it seems! Only 15% are worse than me!

I was better than 32% of the first 100 people who tried it. I don't know whether to be pleased or disappointed.

MiniMoon Fri 01-Jul-22 18:33:13

I don't think I'm very good at this sort of thing. I'm only better than the first 15% of people who tried it.

Elegran Fri 01-Jul-22 19:06:04

You were the same as me, Chewbacca I don't think I'll apply for work assessing Xray films.

FannyCornforth Sat 02-Jul-22 09:33:23

Thank you Elegran! smile

AskAlice Sat 02-Jul-22 09:39:58

I'm better than 44% of the first 100 people who tried it - which means I'm worse than 56%!!!! Not sure what that means?

FannyCornforth Sat 02-Jul-22 10:38:46

Chewbacca

I was better than 32% of the first 100 people who tried it. I don't know whether to be pleased or disappointed.

Same here!
Iโ€™m a bit ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ, but I really enjoyed doing the test

Marydoll Sat 02-Jul-22 10:47:12

Just for fun, your score on this DEMO was better than 66% of the first 100 people who tried it.

Marmight Sat 02-Jul-22 10:47:16

Better than 66% of the first 100

Farzanah Sat 02-Jul-22 11:07:13

Obviously better for AI to read X-rays etc. Humans are fallible.

NotSpaghetti Sat 02-Jul-22 11:25:53

I found the cancer cells really strange tbh.
Will someone who knows tell me what was I looking for?? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคฃ

Strange to be quite so useless at this. Other than foreign languages I'm generally at least middling! grin

NotSpaghetti Sat 02-Jul-22 11:26:46

Yes, Farzanah - most definitely don't ask me!!

annodomini Sat 02-Jul-22 11:30:03

"your score on this DEMO was better than 81% of the first 100 people who tried it."

FannyCornforth Sat 02-Jul-22 11:31:33

annodomini wow! ๐ŸŒŸ

MissAdventure Sat 02-Jul-22 11:34:17

I don't even understand the explanation. blush
Off to give it a whirl, though.

MissAdventure Sat 02-Jul-22 11:50:33

Well, I think I was doing marvelously, but my old phone decided to keep rebooting the same pics, and hiding the continue button.

MissAdventure Sat 02-Jul-22 17:05:47

I scored better than 9 percent of people.
Obviously wasn't doing as well as I thought.

Nandalot Sat 02-Jul-22 17:29:27

Well I was only better than 7%. I thought I had it cracked apart from the robot one. Obviously not.

MissAdventure Sat 02-Jul-22 17:50:49

Oh good.
At least I have someone to feel superior to. grin

Doodledog Sat 02-Jul-22 18:50:19

I was better than 9% too grin.
