When you do crossing outs, it doesn't work, just because you put a " straight after it! And this bolding probably won't work because I have put an exclamation mark right in front of the *!
Thank you Mamissimo for the dash-n-dash-and-m-dash explanation. who'd a thought that there were all these variations. I thought a dash, was a dash! The strikethrough used to work, but doesn't now, so as you said, over to the techies now.
So I think it’s right that our problem is that IPad keyboards only have one multipurpose dash and it’s not taken care of in the back-end code at the moment.
It looks like the iPad uses m-dashes rather than the usual n-dashes.
Is there another hyphen on the iPad keyboard somewhere? I've never used any Apple devices and I don't know anyone who does so I can't check.
Some programs convert two n-dashes into an m-dash.
- this is not an n-dash
I don't have an m-dash nor does my keyboard automatically convert. I think they are rather outdated and becoming obsolete. Victorian books are littered with them!
I have only just found this, and the dash dash thing used to work, and now, as you say they, the dashes just join up, and no strikethrough. What’s going on?
