There are only a certain few that don't smell like burnt rubber or cat's pee on me! I'm fine with Rive Gauche or Anais Anais -even Avon Timeless is really good on me, but any of the newer ones just do nothing for me at all.

Don't send it back. Transfer what is rescueable into another container, sieving it through a bit of nylon from old tights.

But what I am saying is that I don't think they should ask you to estimate how much you can salvage, they should refund you for all broken bottles, whether or not you could use any of what was in them. They should have packed them so that they were safe.

Take a photograph to show the breakages.

It has to be Chanel Mademoiselle as 1st choice then Clinique Aromatics.

Just heard from the perfume supplier, they`re crediting me 50% of the cost back onto my credit card, so am quite satisfied. The leak must have been from faulty tops, because the bottles aren`t broken.

Chanel No 5 is my favourite, but I also like Estee Lauder Beautiful, and when I feel very flowery I use Liz Earle's Botanical perfume! Have you tried it?

Ahh..whenever I smell 4711 it always reminds me of my Mum. I use Coco Mademoiselle for evenings and special occaisons. Elizabeth Arden Green Tea for daytime. It's all SO expensive though!

Can anyone remember a Palomo Picasso one? I used to wear it in the 90s (I think)!

nanachrissy Fri 06-Jan-12 16:37:54

Yes Yummy i still have some Paloma Picasso. I love it. Also in the summer Ilove Issy Miyake.

GoldenGran Fri 06-Jan-12 16:49:48

I love Dior's J'Adore. Ma Griffe reminds me of my Mother.

Anne58 Fri 06-Jan-12 19:07:38

Pennysue Givenchy 111 was the first grown up perfume my mother ever bought me! I wish I could remember how old I was, but definitely still at school, maybe 15?

Perhaps she bought it because I might have been buying yucky sickly scents from Woolies!

Such as California Poppy, maybe, Phoenix?

I also started off a lifelong perfume habit with Kiku & Acqua Manda in the 70s but my all time fave is XS for Women by Paco Rabanne. I wore this all thro the 80s & 90s - and then they discontinued it; aaaaarrrggh!

I'm another summer/winter & day/evening perfume picker. In the winter I love Arpege & have just discovered Guerlain's Vol de Nuit. In the summer Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess, smells of coconut & holidays. Also lovely in summer is Chanel Chance Eau Tendre. Estee Lauder Beautiful is erm, beautiful all year round.

Lizzieanne Fri 13-Jan-12 15:15:34

Arpege is my favourite perfume. I was introduced to it many years ago by an Australian friend and have had many many comments when wearing it from people who also love the smell. It can be difficult to find but it is stocked by Army and Navy and it is possible to get it, and many of the other 'old' favourites from Rainbow Flowers & Gifts on line in their Memory Lane Fragrance Store -- 4711, Apple Blossom, L'Aimant, Tweed etc.

Absolute Guerlain tart here.

I adore Mitsouko, Shalimar and Apres L'Ondee. I wear one of them every day.

When I was about 14 my friends and I used to give each other 'Midnight in Paris'.
As an adult, I used Anais Anais for years, but I gave up wearing anythingn scented when I stopped wearing make-up.
I hate getting into a lift with someone wearing a heavy perfume (common here in France) as it makes me sneeze.

nuttynorah Mon 20-Feb-12 09:57:45

Greatnan I liked Anais Anais until a lady came into the shop where I had a holiday job and asked for some "Anus Anus".

greenmossgiel Mon 20-Feb-12 11:51:20

At least the 'Anus Anus' would have smelled lovely..*nutty*! grin

Diamonds and rubies by elizabeth taylor

MissesM Fri 30-Mar-12 16:41:42

I love Bulgari and of course, chanel number 5 always works for me. I also adore Diorissimo but it doesn't smell right on me, alas..............

maturefloosy Fri 13-Jul-12 17:55:50

Chanel Allure has always been my favourite recently -- but memory jog crimson Californian Poppy !! - Didn't Woolies sell it back then -- I loved it !

Gagagran Fri 13-Jul-12 19:08:18

Such evocative memories! I wore Revlon "Aquamarine" when I got married 47 years ago and still have the bottle - long since empty but a faint perfume there nevertheless. In my 30s I wore Max Factor "Blase" (don't know how to do an acute accent!) but now I love Jo Malone's Lime Basil and Mandarin

Nonu Sat 14-Jul-12 12:48:37

Although I like Rubies and Diamonds , I am very fond of a lot of Christian Dior , fragrances
