Please don't tell me to go on a diet ( I am) or to buy clothes from Primark ( they look hideous)

Budget is small, bottom is large as are basookas. What to do?

MiniMoon Mon 22-Apr-19 17:45:24

When you find out, please tell me. I really need a style overhall!
Sorry, I have no answers.

What to do? - please stop thinking you look horrible! Who cares? - the sun is out, the birds are singing and the buds are shooting - just enjoy!

Loose fitting three quarter length trousers, loose fitting three quarter length sleeve tops?

Well, that's what I fancy, just need to find them at a reasonable price blush

Although Cotton Traders are usually worth a look..........

Avoid mirrors and people with cameras, and don't look towards glass windows ?

Urmstongran Mon 22-Apr-19 18:03:47

A nice hair style. Some coral lippy. A statement chunky necklace or a colourful scarf. A spritz of perfume. A smile.
?

I assume you have your health. x

Enjoy the sunshine for now! If you still want to make a change, start with effective underwear. It's amazing the difference some harvest festival (all is safely gathered in) undies can make. smile

Sue, you are quite right!

Sara65 Mon 22-Apr-19 18:28:53

Well I’ve shaved my legs, and painted my toenails! And that’ll have to do for now!

mumofmadboys Mon 22-Apr-19 18:34:25

Why not sort out your wardrobe and drawers? You may find some things you had forgotten about. Then try and have a half hour walk each day and plan to eat regular small meals. Aim to be a new you!

Lovely cotton dresses in M&S of all places. Responsibly sourced, quality but thin fabric and capacious but adjustable design. Nice patterns too. Much cooler than trousers.

lily I too am the less than proud owner of a generous derrière and while i wouldn’t necessarily recommend Primark (though I got myself a lovely straw hat age 10 there for £2 ) but often find nice things at reasonable cost in George Asda.

Callistemon Mon 22-Apr-19 19:29:14

capacious dresses sound appealing
I wore linen trousers and a longish cotton top today and was too hot.

However, don't pack the winter woollies away just yet!

Callistemon Mon 22-Apr-19 19:37:39

I saw a woman today who looked very stylish - she was larger than me! and wearing a very dark denim flared skirt (can't be fashionable because I have one) and a long white t shirt with a very light navy, blue and white scarf slung casually around her shoulders.
And red sandals!

Go through your wardrobe, see what fits and what looks good and what does not and ditch what does not, unless you intend to lose some weight and think it will look good when you have

Mind you, she was about 5' 9" which helped.

Jane10 I have a bit of an, erm, problem with dresses/skirts, find trousers better blush

Managed the excessive heat last summer by wearing baggy harem style trousers, would have been uncomfortable in skirts or dresses.

Sara65 Mon 22-Apr-19 19:51:38

Since my favourite shop, East, went into administration, I’m at an absolute loss to know where to buy pretty summer clothes, any ideas would be gratefully received!

Happiyogi Mon 22-Apr-19 19:57:21

SueDonim

I'd never heard of harvest festival undies. Love it! grin

GillT57 Mon 22-Apr-19 19:57:43

I too am mourning the demise of East.

Lily65 Mon 22-Apr-19 19:58:37

It must be 30 years since I wore a dress. I have looked at Marks and Spencers but I don't see anything ?

Sara65 Mon 22-Apr-19 20:16:38

GillT57
Have you come across anything to replace it?

Buffybee Mon 22-Apr-19 20:19:17

Crop trousers, there's loads about, vest tops, worn with an unbuttoned loose white shirt and sandles.
Or harem trousers with the same set up.
The shirt covers a multitude of sins, it must be quite a soft material, (not a stiff cotton) to look right.
Hair done, bit of bronzer and lipstick and sunglasses.

M0nica Mon 22-Apr-19 20:21:37

Yes, I nurture my remaining East garments, a summer dress, a winter dress and a white linen shirt bought in the closing down sale.

Jane10 Mon 22-Apr-19 20:42:56

I miss East too.
I don't know how to post links to M&S dresses. Google sustainable cotton dresses?

Jane10 Mon 22-Apr-19 20:46:59

Here is one of them.
