Do you and your family wear Christmas jumpers. Or do you think they look tacky

Doodle Thu 12-Dec-19 19:48:31

DH got given one last Christmas and wore it to two local Christmas meals (ordinary pubs nothing posh) it was not looked upon with approval. It’s a lovely good quality jumper with a lovely red nosed reindeer on the front. People seemed to think it wasn’t the done thing (older generation perhaps)

MerylStreep Thu 12-Dec-19 19:51:40

Very bad taste imo ?

MissAdventure Thu 12-Dec-19 19:52:50

I thought looking tacky was the whole point?
I have worn them, but they're too hot!

Sparklefizz Thu 12-Dec-19 19:57:10

Yes, Christmas jumpers are supposed to be ironic, aren't they?

grannyrebel7 Thu 12-Dec-19 20:02:58

Yes wore mine yesterday to the office party. Think they're great and just a bit of fun. Think you should be able to wear one no matter what your age.

Gonegirl Thu 12-Dec-19 20:10:31

Mine aren't warm enough MissAdventure. I will dig one of them out and wear it with something warm underneath on Sunday when I see grandsons.

I have got a Christmas brooch. It's a Christmas tree.

Doodle Thu 12-Dec-19 20:14:48

You wear a Christmas Tree as a brooch gonegirl ? ?. That must be a bit prickly. Has it got a fairy on top?

DoraMarr Thu 12-Dec-19 20:14:53

No, although I did wear Christmas earrings to the children’s Christmas parties when I was a teacher. I always have a new dress, though. This year it is blue.

MissAdventure Thu 12-Dec-19 20:14:59

Be sure to wear a vest, gonegirl (tucked into your knickers)
You don't want to get a cold in your kidneys. smile

Gonegirl Thu 12-Dec-19 20:16:21

Yeah alright! hmm grin

Cheeky mare! grin

Gonegirl Thu 12-Dec-19 20:17:30

I would put a picture of my brooch up, but I'm too comfortable.

It's pretty.

MissAdventure Thu 12-Dec-19 20:17:35

tchwink

Harris27 Thu 12-Dec-19 20:17:41

Mines on tomorrow for work then washed and put back in the cupboard for next year!

Gonegirl Thu 12-Dec-19 20:18:48

Ooh, I forgot the Xmas emojis. tchsmile

Oopsminty Thu 12-Dec-19 20:20:11

They're not supposed to be stylish and classy.

My son and youngest daughter wear them and the grandchildren have festive outfits

But a jumper is far too hot for me.

PamelaJ1 Thu 12-Dec-19 20:27:47

I’ll be wearing mine to the panto, to the children’s carol concert in the church and on Christmas Day until I get too hot and sit in my vest. Oops too much information. ?
It’s about 15 years old now. My vest is younger.

Cherrytree59 Thu 12-Dec-19 20:34:46

Yay!
Dh and I both have sweatshirt type Christmas jumpers (not as hot)

Mine has an applique furry reindeer on the front.

Dh also applique, has a snowman on the front.

As we now have small grandchildren to entertain, our 'Jumpers ' are ideal for rolling the floor playing toys and lego etc on Christmas morning.

Pre-grandchildren we were much more formal and dressed up on Christmas day.
I know which we both prefer
?

FlexibleFriend Thu 12-Dec-19 20:45:33

I don't own a Christmas jumper because they're very tacky and I'm always too hot for jumpers.

Gingster Thu 12-Dec-19 20:53:44

My dh and I along with 20 friends are going on a ramble tomorrow and we will all be wearing xmas jumpers. We round it off with a pub lunch and friendly quiz. It’s jolly and fun. We also wear xmas hats -

Callistemon Thu 12-Dec-19 21:09:36

H has given me a Christmas brooch.
It is suitably tacky although I'm sure they are real diamonds, emeralds and rubies.
He bought it in the chemist's so it must be real.

That will have to do.

Gonegirl Thu 12-Dec-19 21:11:42

Yeah, mine's real. I got it off a Xmasmarket stall in some European city. Can't remember which city. They all merge with me. tchhmm

Gonegirl Thu 12-Dec-19 21:13:06

I have been searching for a Christmas cardigan for some time now. Why don't they make them?

Chewbacca Thu 12-Dec-19 21:16:01

We have a Christmas Jumper day at work. We donate £2 each to the local hospice for the privilege of looking daft! What's not to like; it raises a smile as we all turn up in the morning and laugh at each other's jumpers and a well deserving charity benefits.

Gonegirl Thu 12-Dec-19 21:16:05

I always want what I can't have. tchsad
