Cottages for two in Yorkshire Dales or Whitby area?

Has anyone any suggestions for us please? The problem is we can only go for 5-6 nights from 24th - c 30th August - peak time. We prefer to self-cater. We're hoping we might find something independently owned that is a bit cheaper & more flexible over dates than cottages advertised by companies. But otherwise will go for a B &B or small GH.
Thanks for any help offered.

I know you want independent owner, but if you go through mumsnet onto Cottages4you you get 7% discount. Covers the booking fee.

GagaboutGran try the Whitby Tourist information web site, they may be able to give some local owners to you.

www.royalhotelrunswick.com is in a lovely spot, if you want quiet but clean and beautiful there is no better place. I have been to the hotel, but not seen the flat unfortunately, but the bay is a lovely part of the world.

We went to cottage ( cottages4you) in Rosedale in the Yorkshire Moors, which was on a sheep farm and had walks and views to die for. We were 40 minutes from Whitby but you have to have a car and like driving.

www.sykescottages.co.uk Look for Lastingham, list several 2 person cottages. We've stayed in a couple, lovely area, close to Pickering, Whitby etc. very popular so may be booked for August, good luck!
