It’s just started and I’m liking it straightaway! Stellar cast. Imelda Staunton (love her). Francesca Anuns.

The series follows three adult siblings – Helen, Jake and Natalie – whose lives are thrown into disarray when their recently widowed mum Vivien declares she’s fallen for a new man, retired GP Mark.

As Vivien nears her 70th birthday, her children grow suspicious when Mark begins to shift her priorities away from her family.

Gorgeous location see the photo!

I thought it looked good so I have recorded it. Glad you are enjoying it Urmstongran

Shades of that recent BBC drama, ‘Gold Digger? That’s what struck me as it started,

suziewoozie Mon 24-Feb-20 21:31:04

Retired surgeon

grannyrebel7 Mon 24-Feb-20 21:34:06

Really enjoying it!

Calendargirl Mon 24-Feb-20 21:45:54

Didn’t mean after her money. Meant because the son isn’t happy about it.

EllanVannin Mon 24-Feb-20 22:00:38

Good, isn't it ? What a family !

Urmstongran Mon 24-Feb-20 22:03:45

Apologies - yes - surgeon sw. But maybe he’s neither ... he’s a creep for sure.

Episode 2 tomorrow.

What a dysfunctional family! All of them actually. Could that even happen in real life?

Charleygirl5 Mon 24-Feb-20 22:05:43

So far so good- I am definitely enjoying it. I recorded it in case I wanted a break but the hour flashed past.

suziewoozie Mon 24-Feb-20 22:06:39

I guess he’s neither but pretending to be a retired surgeon would be more likely from a con man - more perceived status. I like her house

TerriBull Mon 24-Feb-20 22:08:36

Drawn in straight away, great cast, Imelda Staunton, Francesca Annis, Russell Tovey and some other well known faces. The squabbling sibling dynamics resonated with me, I know a family just like that. The shots of the Sussex coast, parts of which I know well looked lovely, obviously shot in the summer. Glad it's on for the next three days.

Calendargirl Mon 24-Feb-20 22:09:26

Yes, Mark is definitely creepy. His hair puts me off. I thought Francesca Annis came across as a bit doddery, even before her collapse.
And as for the neighbour....I would have been worried that I wouldn’t have been able to re-wrap that parcel without them noticing, nosey is not the word.

suziewoozie Mon 24-Feb-20 22:11:37

But wearing it - that WAS creepy

BlueBelle Mon 24-Feb-20 22:27:33

Lots of S.E.X.going on eh !

tanith Mon 24-Feb-20 22:35:36

I’m enjoying it but every time I see Imelda Staunton all I can think is the Delores Umbridge, she’s very creepy.

Teetime Mon 24-Feb-20 22:42:27

Enjoyed tonights show...looking forward to tomorrow

Doodledog Mon 24-Feb-20 22:51:32

I enjoyed it. The cast was very similar to that of What Remains, which I re-watched recently after someone mentioned it on here. At least three of them (probably more) were in that.

It's really got my interest after one episode, so I have high hopes for the rest of the series (although I felt the same about the David Tennant one, and look how that turned out grin )

Yehbutnobut Mon 24-Feb-20 23:12:26

Interesting so far

merlotgran Mon 24-Feb-20 23:15:04

It's looking good. I too love the house.

Fiachna50 Mon 24-Feb-20 23:39:40

Brilliant cast, love Stephen Rea and think this story will be surprising. I don't know who is more creepy, Stephen or Imelda.

Eloethan Mon 24-Feb-20 23:41:34

Very good - fabulous scenery too. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

suziewoozie Mon 24-Feb-20 23:52:12

They usually do Eloethan and all that remains is ‘nice house, nice scenery’

Doodledog Tue 25-Feb-20 00:17:05

The house is lovely, but I kept worrying that it is too close to the sea, and a high tide will flood it. I think I need to get out more grin.

Marilla Tue 25-Feb-20 00:22:11

I thought it had lots clichés and was a bit disappointed.
Beautiful scenery and lovely house. I’ll tune in again tomorrow evening and give it one more episode.
