Now that is seriously boring!

Boring!

Wasn’t impressed, perhaps it was David’s monosyllabic tone. Let’s hope Tracy is a bit more upbeat. It could be interesting to see how the characters feel about things, which may not be voiced in usual episodes but the jury is out.

They should have started the new-style Archers with a livelier character, such as Eddy, Lynda, Lillian or Jolene. And Josh is a complete pain at the best of times.

I am surprised that they have confined themselves to actors spieling off speeches. Surely the BEEB has the technology to cut dialogue together - even I used to do this at work when creating digital stories! - it is the most basic of technology.

Just head the david repeat...oh dear, was expecting Tracy.

Heard

How boring these monologues are. And pointless.

Luckygirl Tue 26-May-20 19:07:02

Surely they could have created dialogues/Zoom style.

Very boring, but I suppose I'll have to listen in case an interesting storyline crops up. Somehow I doubt that it will.

Galaxy Wed 27-May-20 18:20:56

It's really not good. I was enjoying some of the archive episodes, perhaps they should have stuck with that.

Davida1968 Wed 27-May-20 18:24:11

I've quite enjoyed the episodes, so far. At least they are making an effort to carry on. Perhaps we'll have some phone calls (with both sides of the conversation) in due course. Hopefully this new version (of the programme) will develop and improve as it goes along.

NfkDumpling Wed 27-May-20 18:29:14

They’re ok. For a week or maybe two until they can get themselves sorted out. Surely they can record episodes over Zoom?

NfkDumpling Wed 27-May-20 18:30:13

(Sorry Lucky, missed seeing your post)

Listened for the first time tonight. Surely they could have done better than this. Talking heads, but not as good ?

Just listened to the Omnibus - not very impressed ...

Found it so boring, especially the episode with Susan Carter, I had to turn off before the end. I was disappointed with the archive episodes that the BBC didn't include story lines from way back, they were all fairly recent.

Chewbacca Thu 04-Jun-20 17:11:48

I listened today whilst driving and I had to turn it off before I fell asleep with boredom.

Luckygirl Thu 04-Jun-20 20:48:24

I have stopped listening to it - life is just too short.

Happiyogi Thu 04-Jun-20 21:49:02

Definitely not their finest hour! Stilted, wooden and am-drammy. It's such a shame when others have done really creative broadcasting despite the constraints of lockdown.

I wonder how and when they will return to something we'll enjoy listening to.

LullyDully Fri 05-Jun-20 08:30:56

At least we now have clarity that the table is going for good. Now I can rest peacefully without that worry.?

LullyDully Fri 05-Jun-20 08:34:03

Yes dahliaI agree. As I have said before no Walter Gabriel. Why not have a pole of listeners? This is all very boring at a time when we need a boost.

Bikerhiker Wed 10-Jun-20 20:17:47

I am curious to know why producers thought that listeners would enjoy these long boring reflective monologues.
What happened to technology?
I do however like the new theme tune style.

Luckygirl Wed 10-Jun-20 22:13:08

I cannot see why they did not have some dialogues via zoom - they might have been a bit rough round the edges, but that would just reflect the nature of zoom conversations.

Is Natasha locked down in their flat above the shop whilst Tom is free to go to Bridge Farm and back? I thought she'd moved her operation to the farm. Where exactly is the cold store she's so worried about?

Can Tom sell alcohol without a licence?

At least we now know that Natasha's father is bipolar so that explains some of her own erratic behaviour.
