I took out a membership as I wanted to watch " Glass Onion " which was supposed to be a sequel to "Knives out "which we loved . We lasted ten minutes and switched it off .

I felt the same about Glass Onions and only watched a bit of it.
Have just found an Australian comedy called Fisk. It's funny so hope it appeals to your sense of humour.
Also just watched the US mini series Painkiller based on true events, but it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

There is so much on Netflix, it's hard to recommend anything without knowing your tastes. There is a lot of good stuff there, and don't discount the foreign ones with subtitles either. Well worth the monthly subscription.

Cowboy Bebop if you like Anime. The live action version was cancelled before the full adaptation was complete.

Virgin River series 5 is out next week so if you haven’t seen any of the others I can recommend it.

It’s fairly cheesy but has some good storylines and the scenery is breathtaking.

We've just binge watched "Clickbait"its very good with a wee twist at the end

I’ve only recently started watching Virgin River. I’m halfway through Series3 and it has got a bit too soppy for me but I shall persevere.

DH & I have just finished watching "The Diplomat" which we enjoyed very much. (Looking forward to series 2, which isn't out yet.) It has elements of "West Wing" but is set in the UK: the diplomat is question is the USA ambassador to the UK, who resides in London. (The series includes the (true in real life!) official USA ambassador's residence, which is Winfield House: a huge "stately home" that we'd never heard of. This is in the centre of London and its 12 acres of grounds/gardens are surpassed only by Buckingham Palace!) We found the series to be intelligent and interesting (with reference to USA, UK, and world politics) as well as having various ongoing "personal" story situations. Recommended!

I loved Schitt’s Creek and watched it all a year ago. I took a notion to look at it again last week and it’s so funny I’m binge watching it every night. It’s just as funny the second time round.

I watched a series (5 seasons) called Greenleaf and really enjoyed it. Also recently watched Painkiller which is a true story.

I totally loved Fisk, binge watched the 2 series together. I loved it. And I have recommended before, if you like good Aussie stuff, that 5 Bedrooms, on BBCiPlayer, is wonderful. There are 5 series in total, but i think another is coming. It's quite moving, and very humorous. Give it a try.

Schitts Creek is the best series ever.

Agree about Schitts Creek, I can watch it over and over again.

I love Young Sheldon. All the characters are so good.
I thought only series 2 of Fisk was on Netflix. Must check.

Aveline Sat 26-Aug-23 14:24:55

No I mean only series 1 of Fisk. I'm keen to see series 2.

Just finished watching Painkiller. Based on a true story. Not “light entertainment” but very good.

I’ve just finished the second season of Beauty Queen of Jerusalem on Netflix and really enjoyed it.

We are watching Who is Erin Carter? We are enjoying it.

Dopesick is about the same story but far far better.

I loved this! grin
Thanks for reminding me about it!

MerylStreep thank you, I’ll give it a go.

Netflix is telling me it doesn’t have Schitts Creek. I’m watching The Good Doctor, because I love Freddie Highmore, though you do have to suspend belief quite a lot, because of all the brilliant doctors! I also like Somebody Feed Phil.

Daddima Sun 27-Aug-23 05:41:48

I don’t know why I quoted MerylStreep!

Grannynannywanny Sun 27-Aug-23 07:17:29

That’s odd Daddima. I watched more of it last night and it was definitely Netflix I was using.

Sweet Tooth. A perilous adventure, post viral apocalypse, ring a bell, about a boy half human half deer, searches for his parents with a new found protector. Covid makes this quite relatable. Sweet and horrific, but compelling.
