New short-term volunteering opportunity in London helping children learn to read from Beanstalk

For over 40 years Beanstalk had been providing trained volunteers in primary schools to help children with their reading. Our regular volunteers go into school twice a week, for a whole year, working with the same three children to help improve their reading ability and confidence. Find out more at www.beanstalkcharity.org.uk/Pages/Category/become-a-reading-helper.

We are now launching a new programme 'Beanstalk Reading Transitions', designed specifically for those who can't commit to a whole year but who can go into schools regularly (four times a week) for just one school term. We are trialling this in London from September 2017 and need 45 volunteers to help us that term. If you think this might suit you, find out more and apply at www.beanstalkcharity.org.uk/reading-transition or call us on 020 7729 4087.

I would love to help out with this, but unfortunately work full time. Hoping to retire in a year or two, and will then be offering my services

I'm surprised this hasn't had more response, so am posting to bump it in case people have missed it.

I'm not in London, but am definitely interested in becoming a regular reading helper with a school in my area. I've been looking out for a scheme that offers decent training and support, and this seems to fit the bill. I'm not sure yet what days I'll be looking after my DGSs from September, but once I know what my free days are I'll fill in the application form.

Why have you started three threads about this ?

Apologies if that's a problem, we don't want to annoy people. We started one thread a while ago and just wanted to update people on it now that we've moved into some new areas. And this one was about a specific new programme we've launched. Don't think we've done any more though?
