Writing is a notoriously lonely occupation so for me online communities are a real life-line. I have been a longstanding browser on www.absolutewrite.com.It's rather US-centric but you can pick up some useful info on the many forum threads.... in particular their agent/publishing scams.... really useful for the 'innocent virgin'.Another good one for self publishers is www.allianceindependantauthors.org.
(That might not work as I'm still grappling with a tablet!!) but googling independent authors should find it!!
