Kids' book of the month

The Worst Princess by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie

The Worst Princess

Our book of the month for May is the tale of The Worst Princess and stars Princess Sue, who is... um, let's say a rather unconventional royal.

Once upon a time, in a tower near you,
Lived a sad princess; the Princess Sue.
"Some day," she sighed, "my prince will come,
But I wish he’d move his royal bum."

But when Princess Sue’s prince finally does arrive, he’s not quite what she had in mind. He’s surprised to discover that Sue wants to ride horses and battle dragons; he just wants her to wear pretty dresses and stay indoors. Find out how the feisty princess escapes the clutches of her twit of a prince in this funny twist on the traditional princess tale.

Girls everywhere will be cheering for Sue in this story of determination and derring-do with its galloping, tongue-in-cheek rhyming text.

This is the third picture book from author/illustrator team Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie. Their debut, Dogs Don’t do Ballet, was published in spring 2010 and was shortlisted for both the Roald Dahl Funny Prize and Booktrust Early Years Award, as well as being featured on Bafta award-winning hit TV show, Bookaboo. Anna and Sara’s second book together, Rhinos Don’t Eat Pancakes, was published in 2011.
