The UK's bestselling and much loved author is the inspiration behind this two night break from escorted tour specialists, Travel Editions. Based in Torquay, it's a fascinating weekend jaunt that unravels the mysteries of Agatha Christie's real life and takes in many of the locations that inspired her.
The English Riviera played a huge part in Agatha's life. Not only was she born and raised there but it's where she met and married her first husband, Archie, and where, later in life, she bought Greenway, her stunning holiday home that she returned to frequently.
The prize is for two people sharing a double or twin room and is based at the famous Grand Hotel, in a prime position on the seafront in Torquay.
Highlights include:
- A drive along the Agatha Christie mile in Torquay ending at the characterful Torquay Museum where there is an exhibition devoted to Agatha, including personal artefacts, costumes and props from some of the Poirot films.
- An illustrated talk from tour host and Agatha Christie expert, Jane Tapley.
- A visit to Greenway, Agatha's holiday residence just outside Torquay, and now a National Trust property.
- A self-guided tour of the house as well as the lovely woodland setting on the banks of the River Dart.
- The chance to solve a murder mystery back at the hotel with an entertaining evening provided by the Moonstone Theatre Company.
- A wonderful day trip to Burgh Island with time to explore the island itself, maybe have a drink at the famous Pilchard Inn followed by a delicious Sunday roast at the magnificent art deco Burgh Island Hotel.
This tour is one of a wide range of literary, historical and cultural themed breaks on offer from Travel Editions. - The holiday prize cannot be transferred.
- The holiday must be taken by the 31st October 2020, on tour dates offered and strictly subject to availability.
- Travel Editions will contact the winner once known and the booking must be confirmed within four weeks.
- Travel to and from Torquay is not included.
- No travel insurance or spending money is included.
- There is no cash alternative.
- Travel Editions reserves the right to substitute the prize with another of the same value should this prize for any reason become unavailable.
