What's DH's most annoying habit(s)?

I find that I'm becoming quite intolerant of DH's wagging his foot about when he's sitting down! Also he whistles under his breath. There are a few other things, but can't put them on here....Anyone else got anything to add (or is it just me)? hmm

Zephrine Tue 16-Aug-11 14:16:28

How long have you got!!!

Baggy Tue 16-Aug-11 14:16:50

MOG's a foot-waggler too when he has his feet up. I asked him once why he did it. He said he's drawing rectangles! hmm

Have you noticed how a lot of men do a knee jig when they're sitting in an upright chair too? Almost as if they just can't sit still. I don't think I've noticed women doing it.

If I don't say yes or no repeatedly during a conversation he says 'I say'..I then have to point out that I am listening but don't want to constantly have to say 'yes, no, oh really, you don't say, gosh etc....'

Love Zeph's comment! grin

Was just going to add, it's not his most annoying habit.

My OG has started in the last 6 months tapping in tune with any music that comes on the TV, and the odd time he does it when there is no music or sounds think he is hearing things I cant hear

rosiemus Tue 16-Aug-11 14:20:24

Baggy - guilty! I do it all the time without realising. Drives OH mad. But obviously other than that I am an absolute paragon of virtue!

What does he do that drives me crackers? Ooooh, how long have we got?! Crunching an apple right in my ear while I'm listening to the radio comes pretty high up the list though.

Zephrine Tue 16-Aug-11 14:24:09

Yes crimson that's one of them!

mrshat Tue 16-Aug-11 14:57:20

I'll second Zephrine! wink

glammanana Tue 16-Aug-11 14:57:41

Tapping to music on the steering wheel whilst he is driving, giving a running
commentary on football when he know's I have no interest whatsoever

Dropping little bits of paper into the bin, but missing it and never picking it up. putting things down, forgetting where, and asking me what I have done with them. Turning off the Archers when I'm listening to it.Oh dear, it's a list and actually he is lovely!blush

Explaining something that I have either just heard on the radio or seen on the television in patient tones as if I am so stupid I didn't understand it.

Telling me how to prepare an ingredient or what pan to use when I am cooking (I have been writing cookbooks for over 30 years).

Announcing he's going to the loo before he goes upstairs EVERY TIME and saying EVERY MORNING when he first comes downstairs "Tea and pills".

Snoring.

harrigran Tue 16-Aug-11 15:06:33

Telling me what he thinks are the contents of an envelope before I have opened it, also feeling any gifts I am given and stating loudly what he thinks will be in it ... why can't he just b****y wait and find out ?

Zephrine Tue 16-Aug-11 15:09:17

Asking "who's that" when the doorbell rings - sometimes he gets a very rude reply!

absentgrana Tue 16-Aug-11 15:11:03

Don't you just love 'em? grin

crimson Tue 16-Aug-11 15:12:51

Coming into a room where I've gone to watch a tv programme without interuption, then sitting down and talking through the programme.

absentgrana Tue 16-Aug-11 15:15:38

Oh yes crimson and if you object, does he say "But you talk through my programmes" as if any woman in her right mind would watch Ice Road Truckers!

joshsnan Tue 16-Aug-11 15:50:46

The disgusting habit of picking his nose especially when stopped at traffic lights angry. And also if we decide to go out for a pub lunch hiding his 10pk cigs down his socks (hes supposed to have given up) and him thinking I have no idea."insulting my intelligence" angry

Grossi Tue 16-Aug-11 15:51:57

Knee jigging, snoring, never being able to find anything, although it is in the same drawer it has been kept in for the past 15 years. I could go on, but I’m sure you get the idea hmm

NannaJeannie Tue 16-Aug-11 15:58:16

1) hogging the remote
2) going into another room and talking to me
3) not putting the toilet seat down
4) finishing a meal and shoving the plate away (like a flick)

I love love love him

Zephrine Tue 16-Aug-11 15:59:02

Mmmm... he's got that one as well crimson, and snoring and never being able to find anything and walking into a room that I'm in and just standing there and.......

Acheron Tue 16-Aug-11 16:40:07

Tidying up before I have the chance to and making me feel guilty by saying "I'm only trying to help" when I know for a fact that clutter irritates him.

Playing the TV too loud because he's going deaf and won't admit it.

greenmossgiel Tue 16-Aug-11 16:46:10

Oh, of course - knee jiggling, but mainly when we're out somewhere. If we're in the theatre or cinema (not often, I have to say), he starts on the knee jiggling and that makes the row of seats vibrate, which is so embarrassing. Also, whatever I say, he always replies with, "Eh?" so that I have to repeat it and he isn't at all deaf, he just can't be bothered listening to me. Leaves drawers half-open, too (always). Snores horrendously.....!

Acheron Tue 16-Aug-11 16:47:39

What is it with the knee jiggling? I have yet to experience that.

greenmossgiel Tue 16-Aug-11 16:52:12

It's just the one knee usually, Acheron. He seems to lift one foot up so that it's on its tiptoe, then just waggle the leg up and down!
