I forget everything these days greenmossgiel, sometimes I've gone a long way into a book for it to suddenly dawn on me that I've read it before! Recently discovered a website that I find very useful. Keeps track of books I have read and I can give them star ratings too

I keep an alphabetical record of all the books I read, because my memory is so dreadful, also giving a score out of 10. It is invaluable when choosing library books.
I have made a note of the above-mentioned titles for the future.
One of the best things about retirement is that I have time to read now, although I still feel guilty if I do so during the day (in the bath seems O.K.)!

janreb make sure you get a copy of Midwife's Confession, I received a free copy from GN and I have read about 3/4 and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Yes shysal ...I have time to read now, as well ...and don't feel guilty!!

I down load the titles of books written by my favourite authors ...then order them in the library ...so get to read them in the correct order ...then mark them off, as I get to read them ...so no longer get a book out twice!!
Often these sites give links to other authors who write similar genres ...which can be very useful

My library is really good at ordering books for me, as they are linked to other libraries in the area ...all at no charge

I read The Midwife's Confession and really enjoyed it so I wanted to try more of her (Diane Chamberlain) books. Think I will order from Amazon. Libradi - I will try the Lost Daughter and also fancy the Shadow Wife

I liked the Lost Daughter too. Diane Chamberlain is a recent discovery for me and I'm gradually working my way through her books. Only problem is that now I've discovered GN I get distracted in the evenings so don't have as much time for reading as I used to!

Just a thing about libraries - the person you deal with is not usually a librarian, but a library technician - a sort of clerk. Librarians have a university degree - usually two because library qualifications are often post graduate.

(I used to work for a supplier of serials, ie magazines and journals, to libraries)

Just requested The Midwife's Confession online from my library. yogagran, I know what you mean - I should be knitting hats for seafarers at this precise moment. Instead I'm browsing away my afternoon on gransnet....have just washed the floors though...so I feel entitled to a quick glimpse.....

My library didn't have the two book's that I wanted so i got out "The bay at Midnight" and "The lie's She Told" both look to be a good read,I did not realise that Diane Chamberlain had written so many book's certainly plenty to keep me going for a while

Thanx Joan ...that might explain why, when I tried to order the 1st Jo Nesbo book, I was told " we have none of her books" . I was good ...I made no comment. But, I tried again next time I was in ...I am now about to begin his 1st book
