Struck reading posts how quick we are to be critical and come up with glib solutions to issues /situations based on one or two personal anecdotes! I do not exclude myself form this!

I wonder what specifically makes you think that nanaej

As we have all been around a few years it would be strange for us to be totally non-judgmental but I think on the whole gn is quite a good cross section of people who do jump in and others who are more considered.

We are also, generally, kind, helpful and considerate - much like real life people! smile

Don't we also try to offer some helpful ways of dealing with issues that might have worked for us, too? I would be irritated if GNs made flippant and glib comments about serious issues, but have found some very useful and wise comments have been made on here, that appear to be genuine attempts to help.

Yes lots of very helpful and useful advice to each other for personal things but we do tend to pontificate on more 'general' or national issues! I really have no idea how to run the NHS etc but find myself thinking I do! grin

I think it's human nature to be judgemental about issues which concern or anger us - and yes, as kittylester says, we all have a good few years on the clock and can usually see more than one viewpoint. GN would be a boring place if no one had strong opinions, and even more so if there was no one willing to challenge them!

Ah nanaej if it's about running the NHS then I am quite happy to think I would do a better job, and pontificating is my entitlement!! grin grin grin

I'm sure I could run the country better lol.

Sometimes I find quick judgments are made, myself included, but on the whole I enjoy the range of opinions that are expressed, but particularly value the informed opinions that can be made - and that is when I usually learn something! grin.
We've had some pretty good serious debates on GN.

when I like your sense of entitlement to pontificate. grin

I think on occassions we all put our two-penneth in and perhaps meet total opposition and can get a little hot under the collar. It is good to listen to other opinions-----and then ignore them.

It is very interesting to see the well thought out comments and sound advice some gransnetters give. Yes I do think some of us get too judgemental but I like to think that is perfectly acceptable as it is only showing love of a subject or an interest in the topic being debated.

As the saying goes. "THE WORLD IS A BIG FRUITCAKE AND IT WOULD'NT BE THE SAME WITHOUT A FEW NUTS IN IT".
