I am spitting feathers at the moment so will be taking this further,this was advertised on daily mail website and they are opening several units in several places in the east mainly it seems,have reported back to shaw trust also who are supporting us to find work ,no mention made of commission self employment just the requirements of the job,We wrongly assumed minimum wage applied,will be enquiring you can be sure if this is legal and making everyone aware just what rip off merchants they are,there where a lot of younger early 20 something's in the conveyer belt McDonald's interview probably cannot afford scruples if they desperately need work and afraid to not comply for fear of losing job one lad being interviewed at same time was 24 and had not worked since leaving school. For longer than a few months this is another example of misleading employers in the world of the job hunter nellie

I think it may also be worth contacting the Daily Mail website and telling them that they have (albeit unwittingly) allowed a misleading advertisement.

I used to work for the Shaw Trust and I know they would be horrified at the idea of being involved in anything like this - I should talkk to them about it if I were you. Good luck.

Please please please do report this to anyone and everyone, if you know what I mean! When I was at Mystery Shoppers Ltd we were contacted by "The Stage" a publication much read by actors and those in the entertainment business. A company had placed an ad for mystery shoppers, which was obviously going to be of interest to those "resting" as the phrase goes.

Trouble was, it was NOT a legit compnay, but rather a money laundering type scam! The people from "The Stage" phoned us, as at first they thought the ad was connected with the company. I managed to explain how the scam worked to them, and also that it was nothing to do with any reputable company. They dropped the ad right away.

Unfortunately I was not as successful with Google, who were also running a paid for listing for a scam company. I was not able to get them to take it down, so there were probably quite a few unfortunate souls who got sucked in.

PS Knowing the Daily Mail, they might even decide to make it a "shock horror" feature!

The company is called formula 1 and have used before many times when living in Essex,don't recall ever having had other work that "needed" doing but they are expanding quite rapidly in our area and I did wonder wether business had been good for them,well using those methods it most definitely has,I did have reservations as business seemed to be very fast growing it could also collapse just as quickly in the recession leaving OH and others out of work again,competition on their site is also quite fierce as on an industrial estate with many other garages nearby.
I think maybe they have lawyers working for them that have checked and highlighted any loop holes for them to escape through,it sounds illegal,and is probably a thin line on the side of legal,it was also explained to OH that they had to identify faults that need repairing and where expected to earn a living doing so but any outcome of legal action and you where on your own,also before any work commenced you had to examine vehicle taking photos and identifying damage on work sheets,in case any a customer accused you of damaging vehicle in that case again you would be expected to foot the bill and it would be stopped from your
"Earnings" assuming you had any in the first placexxx

Just googled the company, there appears to be one in most towns and cities and according to the feedback they are sharks. Repairs and parts that are not really needed with hefty bills

And obviously not bothered by customer feedback either
