Curtain pole!

I ordered a new curtain pole from John lewis along with finials and rings etc to match the one I already had.
The line was discontinued but they still had stock.
The finials and rings arrived, but no pole!
I rang and asked 'where's my pole?'
"Sorry madam that line has been discontinued and we have no more"
Nobody thought to tell me!
Also because the cost of a slightly smaller pole is less than £20 , I have to pay a delivery charge!
The original order was over £30 and therefore delivery was free!
I'm cross angry

Am not surprised Galen!
John Lewis are pretty good at trying to keep their customers happy so I'd send them a suitably worded e-mail along those lines.....you never know!

I would too. If your total order, which should really all have come together, comes to the delivery-free price, they shouldn't be charging it now they've failed to deliver what you ordered.

Well I've just moaned at them and they're refunding the delivery charge!sunshine

Well done, I should think so.

The "local" branch of John Lewis where we used to live in Streatham and alas is no more, was Pratts
Says it all.

Galen hmm sometimes I wonder if the customer is just there for the benefit of the retailer.....
Not curtain poles, but I've had a week of returns. First a bag bought for DD's birthday still had the security tag attached so no present for DD as I had to trail all the way back into Edinburgh with it; second - a new bag fell to bits scattering the contents far and wide, so back to Ed again and third a kitchen clock bought yesterday refused to tick. On the way home from returning it today I decided to buy a Tesco meal deal and was told that it was 'off' until tomorrow when the Valentine's Day promotion starts' despite being displayed in the cabinet, as there 'weren't any puddings' and then I was charged £5 for 2 packets of smoked salmon which were priced at £2 each - the till picked up a 2 for £5 offer on seafood. I think I will give up shopping for a bit angry

We rented a flat nearly opposite Pratts when we first married. That is where I opened the John Lewis account that I still have (now a mastercard).

I felt it was the ultimate step in adulthood, Going into a shop and asking them to charge my purchases to my account! I couldnt afford to buy much we were strapped for cash as we were saving a deposit to buy a house, but it was a great feeling.

Galen, did you order from a JL Shop?

When ordering online the minimum spend for free delivery is £50,00.
Used to be £30,00. But not for a while now.

Maybe it is better to order from the local branch?

It's ok, they've refunded it. The original order came to £58 so was free.
