Am I being unreasonable in thinking that some of the stuff on Comic Relief this year is most unsuitable for such an early part of the evening?
I feel sad. I was so looking forward to Call the Midwife and I thought is was awful.
I know I am old, but.........
Just glad I am not watching with my grandchildren or indeed my mother (long gone but sure you know what I mean).

I was waiting for my 8 year old to ask me what 'shag' meant during the Rowan Atkinson skit... so far am not impressed..

I watched for 10 minutes and all I saw were celebs wanting to be seen for the kudos it gave them. BUT if money is raised for real good am I being fair? Still wont watch the programme though, it is dire.

I never watch Comic relief night - always such trash. Life's just too short.

Just watched a few minutes of Comic Relief and saw a baby with Malaria which could have been prevented with a net for the price of £5. The baby was in a terrible state and could die, I can barely type I am so upset, It makes me want to do something solid that WILL help and I ask myself why is this still going on in our time! sad

I really dont understand because comic relief has been about for a few years now, but have things improved and if not why not and if yes PLEASE show us what has improved as it will encourage people to give more if they can actually see the difference their money is making.

j08 Fri 15-Mar-13 20:34:45

Yes Mishap life can be very short.

Ana Fri 15-Mar-13 20:42:35

Are you OK jingl?

Ana Fri 15-Mar-13 20:43:11

Seriously concerned question, not meant to be funny....

j08 Fri 15-Mar-13 21:04:53

I'm fine ta. Why? Wassup?

merlotgran Fri 15-Mar-13 21:06:47

Where have you been?

Ana Fri 15-Mar-13 21:07:58

That's OK then smile

NfkDumpling Fri 15-Mar-13 21:22:02

I'm with Mishap. I avoid Red Nosey type stuff. I find it all somehow slightly patronising and, yes, I too wonder why after so many years, generations even, of giving both through fund raising and government aid from many western countries, things don't seem to have got any better.

Mishap Fri 15-Mar-13 21:25:00

I am happy to make a donation - just don't want to watch the programmes.

NfkDumpling Fri 15-Mar-13 21:32:23

I used to donate to Comic Relief, but there's so many deserving charities now I just stick to a few - although if Guide Dogs for the Blind cold call trying to get me to give more I'm cancelling my direct debit!

merlotgran Fri 15-Mar-13 21:33:50

It's turned into self indulgent c**p for hasbeens who are no longer funny. I thought it got off to a good start but it's all downhill now.

Ariadne Fri 15-Mar-13 21:35:07

Can't stand it!

Ana Fri 15-Mar-13 21:36:27

Could Ricky Gervaise be any more obnoxious....? He's just not funny these days.

annsixty Fri 15-Mar-13 21:42:11

Nfk no-one worse for the NSPCC for that.

Marelli Fri 15-Mar-13 21:50:28

I've not been watching it. I've been reading all the comments made and am glad I've not bothered.

NfkDumpling Fri 15-Mar-13 21:53:09

5 calls in 2 days from Guide Dogs for the Blind. No more though after I threatened to cancel.

glassortwo Fri 15-Mar-13 22:07:57

I have been watching as the family were all waiting for it too start along with the little ones who were allowed to stay up for an extra 30 mins, they were dispatched off very quickly to bed as it was not suitable for family viewing (that makes me sound like my Mum shock ) the family have now gone to bed and I have turned over I have never been so bored in all my life!

NfkDumpling Fri 15-Mar-13 22:12:29

Time it died a natural death along with cookery programmes and celebrity reality shows.

Marelli Fri 15-Mar-13 22:17:28

I second that, Nfk!

j08 Fri 15-Mar-13 22:25:29

No! It raises money! Surely you can spare one evening of telly watching. You don't need to enjoy it.
