I constantly wonder why an exchange of opinions about MT in particular has made some forum members so cross that their language has become reminiscent of emotive journalism, rather than addressing the issue.
We have learned, from the biography which quotes her letters, much more about her character and personality as a young woman. This sheds some light on the politician she developed into.
To say that someone is 'banging on about' sheds no light at all on how far a person's experiences and personality when young influences and shapes their later life.
And I do not feel that 'descending into argument' is accurate. Provoking a discussion with different points of view is what I observed.
Neither does the word 'regurgitating' add anything. The word means vomiting and is an unpleasant way to describe anyone's clarification of, or additions to, points previously made.
As for the personal insults against one member, like jibes in the playground, they are best ignored.
