How awful for you some people can't help themselves can they ? sounds whoever did this had some sort of transport doesn't it maybe someone passing through and trying their luck but certainly not lucky for you and your hubby.Have you asked neighbours if they had anything taken over night ? just glad they did not take your dog. sending you ((hugs))

Oh my goodness, nonna shock. You must feel so upset. Did the dog not make a racket barking?
A few years ago someone stole our brass door knocker during the night! They must have quietly unscrewed it and we didn't hear a thing - not even the dropping of the retaining nut on the tiled floor of the hall. Next door's was stolen as well, so perhaps they were going for scrap (or even a car boot sale).

So sorry nonna. So infuriating! Were they kept at the bottom of the garden...how did anyone know they were there? Doesn't matter, still bl**dy annoying!

nonnasusie Sun 30-Jun-13 19:11:16

The land they were on is just over a 5 min walk away and hidden off the road. We think it was a local person. We have a suspect in mind and have reported it to the caribinieri (police)!!! Unfortunately the dog is a stray we have adopted and he is very nervous of strangers but he will eat anything so if they offered him food he would take it!!

Marelli Sun 30-Jun-13 19:21:33

I hope you soon get some information about it, nonnasusie - and hope you get your hens etc back again.

nonnasusie flowers. hope they get caught.

mollie Sun 30-Jun-13 19:46:54

Will they (carabinieri) take it seriously? Hope so...seems worse when it's someone you know...

glassortwo Sun 30-Jun-13 19:49:10

Thats terrible nonnasusie, at least they didnt harm the dog or put drugs into whatever they gave him to eat, there must have been a few of them to carry everything away.

baubles Sun 30-Jun-13 20:21:29

That's a rotten thing to happen nonnasusie , glad your dog is ok though.

annodomini Sun 30-Jun-13 20:28:55

They must have been watching your property and known exactly what they wanted to take. A nasty thought. hmm

Mishap Sun 30-Jun-13 20:33:00

How horrid - there is a dreadful feeling of being violated when someone breaks in and takes our stuff. What a shame.

Deedaa Sun 30-Jun-13 21:11:45

Not sure I'd trust the carabinieri to do much about it, but I suppose they can't all be bad. Such a horrible thing to happen though - have you got neighbours who can give you any clues?

grannyactivist Sun 30-Jun-13 22:03:50

nonnasusie this kind of thing always leaves a bad taste and a great degree of frustration. I'm so sorry it's happened and hope that the culprit is named and shamed.

merlotgran Sun 30-Jun-13 22:50:17

We had two chickens stolen last year. They were free ranging and wandered round the front of the house near the farm lane. Hardly anyone uses it but we heard a car stop, doors slam and when I called them in there were two missing. angry

I can understand why you're upset nonnasusie. It sounds like your theft was planned whereas ours was random.
