To attend an interview for a voluntary post which I may not be able to accept anyway?

All the best, Baubles! What a lovely opportunity if it comes off. I too was cross to miss the chance to help in the Olympics, Gracesmum; that opportunity won't come around again in my lifetime, and the CG are too far from where I live.

Cannot BELIEVE they've appointed GS4 again.... just WHO was responsible for THAT decision????

Interview went well as far as I could tell. Terrific atmosphere - very buzzy. The games will be great if the level of enthusiasm among the volunteers is anything to go by smile

I was very cross that I missed my opportunity to even apply for the Olympics (as gamesmaker, not the 100m sprint grin) - you go for it!
PS will people never learn though - I have read that GS4 (remember them?) have been appointed to handle security at the Commonwealth Games. Would you credit it?

There will be plenty of people in your position, Baubles, who may not be able to take up the offer for whatever reason. For this reason the organisers will be over-recruiting. Don't worry - have a go - and if you don't go on your European tour (jealous!!!) and are offered a role, then you can be a Gamesmaker insatead!

No, you go for it baubles, stuff happens to anyone!

It's not unreasonable to hedge your bets. You are keeping your options open.

I'm having a coffee prior to my interview to be a volunteer at the Commonwealth Games next year.

I may not be able to accept any offer as DH & I are planning an 8-10 week European trip next summer. Given recent events I'm horribly aware that 'the best laid plans' etc 'gang aft aglay'.

So am I being unreasonable to hedge my bets? Am I wasting the interviewers' time?
