New Year Lists

Oh dear, we haven't moved on very much, have we?

I may sound a bit of a grump, which I am not, but I have become increasingly bored and disappointed with all those TV Christmas specials. They rarely measure up to the originals and usually fail to be much good. I suspect they are cobbled together quickly just to fill-in the yawning spaces in the Christmas schedules.

In fact, if you were to ignore the all the specials and endless repeats, most Christmas TV is becoming a bit of a bore, of use mainly as comfort material for the lonely. Perhaps there are just too many channels and not enough stuff with which to fill them, but where are all those good old family comedy shows of the past? I'm thinking of taking up knitting at Christmas in future, or even talking to my wife. If that fails I may even have to consider getting out of bed!

oh this TV programmes that are just a list of top 50 whatsists are appalling and I am sure cheap as anything to make.
Perhaps we should have our very own Gransnet top 50 cake experiences or summit?

papaoscar you are so right about television at Christmas. If it wasn't for Skyplus and all our dvds there would be nothing at all to watch, and we don't watch much tv as it is! Yes, do take up knitting next year, at least you would have a bobble hat to show for it.

Jess if you can get to Llanwrst there is a shop there that sells a magnificent Eccles Cake.

JessM - into the ring I'll toss a magnificent iced bun I had last year. Fresh, huge and with moist spicy white icing!

Mamie - the other day there was a repeat tv antique programme and they went to the Eccles cake factory where they turn out 50,000 a day of the little beauties. Glorious!

Rosesareread - tv. I'm reading about something called 'streaming' which lets you watch on your telly anything you can get on the Internet, including YouTube who have thousands of old film clips, videos and tv programmes. They say its easy and free and just involves plugging a cable in from your computer into your tv. It sounds interesting.

'technically' our TV will do that now but sadly the WiFi signal is not strong enough.

Streaming is absolutely great if you watch a lot of TV etc. I don't, but there is music too. DC and GC love it.

A fresh buttery eccles cake is a fine thing. I think we should try to be specific about where these top 50 cakes can be had. I will consult google re bakers in Conwy...

Oh dear. Well OH says it was a bakers, but I think it was a posh deli in Llanwrst.
