I just called my local branch of that place we 'should have gone to' for our specs, that supply me with contact lenses and specs and have done so for the past 13 years.
Press this press that, very helpful person comes on the phone, takes all my details, then I tell them I need a spare pair of contacts because going on holiday and my next mail-out of disposables not due yet, he replies "Please hold on while I contact the store" I am so flummoxed by this that I don't say "But I called the store". He then comes back and says the phone at the store is busy, so I have left a message for them to call me back and then I will call you. I say "But, but Icalledthestore!" and he says "No, it gets redirected to a call centre". So I say "Why can't I just call the store myself?!" but realised my blood pressure was getting higher and higher with his long explanation so just said "Oh, whatever".
Is it a world gone crazy or what?!
I feel sorry for the poor employee, but no wonder customers get grumpy
