to think...?

Or to hope that when a new member starts a thread with a problem or quandary and receives opinions or offers of advice or help, that it would be nice to hear from the OP again? Some, like veexox come back to us with how things have moved on and that is appreciated. When there is no response I wonder if perhaps it might be a journalist or someone merely seeking to get us going start a discussion on a " hypothetical" issue. AIBU?

No, I don't think you are.

Of course, sometimes there may be a good reason, i.e. limited access to PC, but generally speaking I would agree with you.

It's just good manners really.

Maybe they want to leave it to allow time for the us to leave lots of comments. smile
Days can pass me by in a flash and fitting everything in can be a struggle so maybe they are the same.

That's right. [nods sagely]

You would expect comments back within a week though? If you have posted on here, you would be wanting to read the replies surely? It does mean good access to the internet though. I have sometimes thought it may be a journalist getting some easy 'thoughts' on a subject for a column.

Having been contacted by a Daily Mail journalist in a pm, and I know other Gransnetters have, it's not unreasonable to think they are registering and putting the occasional OP on here to glean information.

jingl that has made me smile, of all the people least likely to post and then not come back for ages, I think you would be right up there!

A few months after GN first started there was an item in the news of particular concern to older people. This was discussed by GN members and I then read an article in the Mail that discussed the issue and then used what were essentially quotes from two GN posts, one of them mine, to point out some of the problems that the policy would cause.

That is one of the reasons to don"t overboard in welcoming Newbie"s , just in case they are not all they appear to .
Don"t get wrong though I am not saying that about the majority of Newbie"s !
perhaps I should get back to my pottering in the garden where I have been up till now !
Tee Heh!

No you are not Soutra. We probably all like to know that OP sorted the problem or whatever.
Nipping off now to update what I posted ages ago blush
