I know I'm not - I'm furious. I shall put it in a large envelope and send it back to the Sun ( unstamped of course) . The thought of that example of all that is wrong with the moral values of certain sectors of modern Britain dropping onto my doormat makes me so angry angry

ninathenana Mon 09-Jun-14 09:06:58

It would be pointless them sending it to me. We don't get our post until about 1.30pm !
I can't stand the publication either, good on you for the unstamped return.

Mishap Mon 09-Jun-14 09:10:10

Was this just a piece of completely unsolicited mail? Definitely send it back unstamped. Bad enough to get all the the usual advertising bumf instead of proper post!

GrannyTwice Mon 09-Jun-14 09:13:00

It's being delivered to every household in England ( except those in Liverpool) on 12 June.

Nelliemoser Mon 09-Jun-14 09:16:49

Grannytwice keep it to stuff in damp shoes or wrap your food scraps in. Or cut into squares and stick it on a nail in the outside loo.

GrannyTwice Mon 09-Jun-14 09:20:26

Nellie- I am really really angry about this - sending it back is making public not private protest. I will never ever ever ever forgive them for their Hillsborough coverage in particular but for their gutter 'journalism' in general.

sunseeker Mon 09-Jun-14 09:31:57

If everyone sent it back in an unstamped envelope it will cost them a lot of money and make them think twice before inflicting their rag on everyone

GrannyTwice Mon 09-Jun-14 09:37:26

Quite Sunseeker - those of us who remember Hillsborough may well feel more strongly about this than others. If it's meant to be a PR exercise (whilst the Hillsborough inquest is on- going) dressed up in World Cup finery then it's failing with some people!

Mishap Mon 09-Jun-14 09:38:06

Yes - let us all send them back without a stamp!

Kiora Mon 09-Jun-14 10:10:50

I'm in. Or out to the postbox, however you want to look at it. Are we now a group of polite rebels? shock

GrannyTwice Mon 09-Jun-14 10:17:57

How do I start on online 'send it back unstamped' campaign?

henetha Mon 09-Jun-14 10:20:55

Absolutely agree, let's all send it back unstamped. I hate the Sun and it's gutter journalism.

durhamjen Mon 09-Jun-14 11:02:13

www.change.org
You can start any campaign you want on there. It'll keep the postmen in work for a while.

You can also go on hackedoff website. It's hard to believe that the hacking court case is still going on. You'd think Murdoch et al would know better at the moment.

Eloethan Mon 09-Jun-14 11:05:29

I'll send it back unstamped too - good idea.

rosesarered Mon 09-Jun-14 11:41:12

Me too!

Elegran Mon 09-Jun-14 11:53:42

How about those with Facebook or Twitter accounts putting it on them?

janerowena Mon 09-Jun-14 12:35:29

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe the newspaper I despise the most is doing such a thing. hmm

Do they expect everyone to abandon their own preferred reading at once? Will every male in the country abandon his paper in exchange for a pair of boobs? How insulting.

ninathenana Mon 09-Jun-14 13:21:08

Good thinking Elegran I don't have either but please those of you that do.

janerowena Mon 09-Jun-14 13:22:29

Excellent idea.

tiggypiro Mon 09-Jun-14 13:27:03

Count me in too !

ninny Mon 09-Jun-14 14:19:44

GrannyTwice It's only a newspaper, get a life!

durhamjen Mon 09-Jun-14 14:35:08

It's not only a newspaper, ninny. It's the paper at the centre of the hacking scandal, along with the News of the World.
It is still going through court. The timing is everything. I think the judge is still summing up in the Rebekah and Charlie Brooks trial.
This is Murdoch's reply to the British Courts. It would be interesting to see if it is contempt of court.

harrigran Mon 09-Jun-14 14:55:59

Nobody is demanding you read it, use it to light the fire, put potato peel in or polish your windows. At the end of the day it is only sheets of paper.

sunseeker Mon 09-Jun-14 15:03:48

No you don't have to read it but I do have a right to control what comes into my home, I wouldn't buy this rag so why should I have it pushed through my letter box.

Ana Mon 09-Jun-14 15:06:00

How on earth can it be contempt of court...?
