Grrrrr- good news is (and I do feel so guilty about being so happy about this) DD1, her OH and our granchildren are baling out of their campsite in France to come and dry out and be warm at Grannie's and Granpa's- going to help them pack up tomorrow. They've had a dreadful week with tons of rain and mud, poor things. The other families can go off to restaurants, but due to GS's allergies to egg and some nuts, etc- they just can't take the risk.

Let's hope for a wonderful Indian Summer- autumn is actually my favourite season in the Jura- great colours, huge skies and views, and lot of wild mushroom forays.

Lots of rainbows on the horizon..

Was temped to have a little heating on myself yesterday evening - found a cardie instead. Might have to change duvets soon though.

Fling another dog on the bed!! grin

Charleygirl Sun 17-Aug-14 13:44:56

It must be getting colder at night because my cat Tara spends a lot of the time with me instead of sleeping on her own single bed.

I can't believe how quickly the weather has changed in one week. Last week Summer and hot, now chilly and Autumnal! My daughter and family are due to go on camping trip (tent) Bank Holiday weekend, hope it warms up for them, their last treat before going back to school.

Pittcity Sun 17-Aug-14 14:21:21

Autumnal, wet and windy here in North Essex this morning and I had to put a cardi on indoors this morning for the first time in weeks. The sun has just come out so I may need to take it off again soon sunshine

Marmight Sun 17-Aug-14 15:17:10

It's been wet, wild, windy and chilly here in Fife for over a week, but I WILL NOT PUT ON MY HEATING - yet shock. I am still wearing my shorts and will not give in to Autumn until at least September. Extra layers as required is the way to go........... and I am ever hopeful of an Indian Summer. Keep the faith wink

Ana Sun 17-Aug-14 15:24:30

Shorts!!!??? (shiver...)

We are still warm here [Oxon] but last night I did put a cardie on for a spot of tv watching about 9.30. Lovely day today, a bit windy but very warm in the sunshine. We never put any heating on until mid October.

petallus Sun 17-Aug-14 15:53:09

I am just about to change from my 2.5 tog duvet back to the winter weight one (10.5)

snowyboots Sun 17-Aug-14 16:37:39

We did put the log burner on for a couple of hours last night - cat was thought it was in heaven.

goldengirl Sun 17-Aug-14 16:46:54

Yep. We put our heating on for a bit when the temperature dropped. And I put on a cardy. I like to be comfortable in my old age smile

mrsmopp Sun 17-Aug-14 17:03:21

I see nothing wrong in putting the heating on in August if the temperature drops. It's the temperature that matters, not the month. After all, if you had a warm spell in December, you'd turn the heating off, wouldn't you?
(say yes)

emilie Sun 17-Aug-14 17:06:12

I enjoy cold weather outdoors but must have warmth indoors.

tanith Sun 17-Aug-14 19:59:11

Its windy wet and cooler but its not cold we still have doors and windows open.

Penstemmon Sun 17-Aug-14 20:21:26

DD1 & famiy off camping in France tomorrow and DD2 & DGDs, DH & I off to Center Parcs confused Not quite cold enough for a fire but I have put in my log order!

inishowen Mon 18-Aug-14 11:30:57

Yes we put the heating on the other night. Hubby forgot it was on and went to bed leaving it on all night. Grrrr....

granjura Mon 18-Aug-14 13:36:24

Sunn has come back in the meantime, thank goodness and much warmer again, apart from the wind. Grandkids and parents gone to play on the Summer Luge run- so having a little rest. Love them so much- but kids are exhausting ;)

petra Mon 18-Aug-14 13:46:18

With the drop in temperature how does the cardy work when you get out of the bath/shower.
I don't do cold at all. If it's chilly in July, heating goes on. And it has at times.

rosesarered Mon 18-Aug-14 14:03:37

Perhaps you live somewhere cold Petra? We rarely need the heating onbefore October. The house has had everything done to make it warmer as well, double glazed everywhere and cavity insulation. When you have had a shower, a warm bathrobe? I have a friend who lives in a very old cottage, and she sometimes has the log burner going in July.

sherish Mon 18-Aug-14 14:15:04

We have double glazing, insulation etc but we have had to turn up the thermostat just recently around 6:00 pm. It's been a bit chilly up North.

ninathenana Mon 18-Aug-14 16:58:04

Heating in August shock

Although it is cooler than it has been it's still T-shirt weather here in Kent. I haven't felt the need for even a cardi. In fact DG2 and I spent a lovely afternoon playing in the garden on Saturday and we had the patio doors open.

petra Mon 18-Aug-14 17:35:08

It's me. OH says I only have a range of 3 degrees ( that could be the name of a group) 25 perfect, 24 too cold, 26 too hot!
It doesn't help that I hate winter clothes. Sitting here with a cotton nighty thing on.

Ana Mon 18-Aug-14 17:38:13

No wonder you're cold, petra! grin
