I've just seen the 12 Gransnet Gifts competitioon and there was not a single one I would want either for myself or to give to a loved one. Is it me? I know the items selected in the press as "acceptable gifts" or even "must haves" seem to get crazier each year, but these...well I can't think of a suitable description. One of the few Gransnet comps I won't be entering - in case I win!
confused

Yes, it's you! They're lovely pressies. Except for the men's smellie thing.

I would keep that pretty little gold bracelet for myself.

"Mens Smellie thing" shock Perhaps i'd better check the page out.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 27-Nov-14 20:57:45

Oh shite!!

I didn't mean anything untoward!

It's a pot of perfume stuff. confused

Phew, it's "masculine scent", although I'm not sure that's any better. confused

When did men stop wearing aftershave and start wearing cologne ?

What happened to Old Spice and Brut

It's you! My family and I would love almost every one of those. I think it's a wonderful selection. I could instantly think of a recipient for each one.

Ana Thu 27-Nov-14 22:49:42

Honestly, what a thing to complain about! confused

Lapwing Thu 27-Nov-14 22:51:18

It is a lovely varied selection - would be lovely to win.

Ana Thu 27-Nov-14 22:51:47

The prizes aren't good enough! grin

Ana Thu 27-Nov-14 22:52:59

You couldn't make it up...

Elegran Thu 27-Nov-14 23:15:19

Yes, you are being unreasonable! It is OK though - it gives everyone else a better chance of winning something. I hope a lot more people agree with you and don't enter.

Anne58 Thu 27-Nov-14 23:20:48

What? Where? Can we nab it quick before the non member prize grabbers see it?

kittylester Fri 28-Nov-14 06:45:09

Beat me to it Phoenix!!! grin

I could find homes for most of the items, so a win would be most welcome. GN is the only place from which I have ever won a prize, the DGCs' book collections are added to about once a month, as well as mine!

Anne58 Fri 28-Nov-14 07:43:45

pompa they have a boxed gift set of Old Spice in Lidl!

harrigran Fri 28-Nov-14 23:39:49

Tut, tut there is no pleasing some people. YABU.

henetha Sat 29-Nov-14 10:02:35

To be honest, I think most of the prizes are great and I would love to win them.

annodomini Sat 29-Nov-14 10:42:17

pompa, Lidl has (or had?) a men's toiletry that goes by the enticing name of 'Eruption', if you find that they are all out of Old Spice.

janerowena Sat 29-Nov-14 12:14:39

Eruption!!! grin grin grin

CeeCee Sat 29-Nov-14 14:55:25

A lovely selection of gifts and a very generous prize. I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time.

rosequartz Sat 29-Nov-14 18:57:43

shock (that's to the OP, not to the Eruption!!)

NfkDumpling Sat 29-Nov-14 19:06:20

Just entered! I too would like or can find homes for everything except the pasta maker - we've already got one - in it's box, unopened in the attic where it's been for the last five years. Perhaps 2015 will be the year we try it out!

rosequartz Sat 29-Nov-14 21:03:01

DS would love a pasta maker. In fact I could find homes for everything in the competition!!

Maggiemaybe Sat 29-Nov-14 21:36:25

Yes, I'm afraid YABVVU! I already have a pasta maker rusting away somewhere after two careful uses, and I've more than enough cookery books cluttering up the place, but I'm sure I could find loving homes for those and everything else on the list. I want it all. All of it I tell you. Mwahahaha.
