Hahaha yes, you've got it in a nutshell tigger. I have my2 grandchildren staying with me at the moment. It's great! Noisy and hectic but great fun. To add to the fun the 7 year old had a bad nosebleed this morning. Just finished mopping up the blood!

Oh Marmight you made me laugh with your message, sounds as though you're having an absolutely lovely time and enjoying every minute with your family. I've got a dlg who is extremely noisy, but so funny, my dlg is the complete opposite to her cousin, they're both two, but love having them.

I have 5 grandsons under 8..they're all soooo noisy.. ..temporarily, since July, I have had 2 of them 3yr old and 5 yr old living with us with darling daughter.. days start 6.30am .. I'm tired!

Not all children are 'shriekers' but an awful lot nowadays do seem to be.
our youngest DGS aged Three is a chatterer, talks non stop, tells little anecdotes! Not noisy though.

Wow! Peace and quiet! Tos put away so no more graggy traps on the way to the loo or kitchen.
Kate is here so the mess has been vacuumed up. The furniture is in its usual places and the cushions are where they belong on the sofa and chairs. ( instead of in a heap in a corner. The little Devils Angels don't approve of cushions where they should be)

Cushions are meant to be used to make a den and they jump out to welcome you into their play area.

What sort of a mum were you?

Remember play doh which stuck to the carpet, and childrens parties where cake an crisps were trodden into any corner where there was space.

Perhaps you could try my ploy? I told my children they were absoltuely not allowed to scream or shriek unless they were warning me about a crocodile coming into the garden - this from the deepest Hampshire at the time! and it worked... GIve it a try

I think grandma 2213, you are being taken advantage of. At the age of 70, I am currently helping my daughter who has a two month old baby.
I go to her house twice a week, early in morning so she can go back to bed for a few hours and catch up on sleep.
While I love looking after Gson, I feel absolutely knackered when I get home and put my feet up.

I certainly wouldn't, or couldn't do it for any longer. All the bending down to change nappies and burping etc, really does my back in. Unfortunately he has got severe acid reflux and doesn't sleep an awful,lot. But hey! If we can help, we will, won't we?.

Tigger - you've reminded me of something my grandfather told me 70 years ago:
A little boy kept a diary and wrote one day 'Went to Grandma's, she was glad.' The next day he wrote 'Came home from Grandma's, she was glad.'

I can feel very lonely when they've all gone. Bottles in the dishwasher, books on the shelf, toys Back in boxes, teenagers' damp towels off in the wash. Peace reigns, a cup of tea and tv - but somehow the life has gone out of the house and all the noise and backache was so worth their company.

You have it easy Galen I had four DGC for two weeks during school holidays with two more here most nights and every day and with no parent to help. The noise level was high but the older ones 10,9 and 7 were very helpful. I crawled into bed every night and lost weight as I forgot (didn't have time) to eat I was so exhausted. I kept thinking how do people with six children cope.

Two for a few days with their mother is a walk in the park.

My baby grandson just 6 months hates going in the car and in his car seat and just screams his head off.
This then really uspets his three yr old big brother The little perisher stops the moment he gets taken out of the car but it is very distracting and you cannot reason with a child of that age.

I do feel sorry for my daughter and family. I was surprised he did not just fall asleep but after Googling the problem it seems that a number of babies do this.

That's funny, as my baby grandson nearly always falls asleep in car seat. He seems very safe and snug in it.
