This morning the post man delivered abox measuring 6ins (15cms) x 8ins (20cms) x 11ins (27cms).

I opened it and all I could see was a mass of those inflated plastic packaging bags. I took all these out and hidden in a small corner of the box was 3 packs of Christmas cards, total measuremments 2ins (5cm) x 4ins(10cm) x 6ins (15cm). In other words the box was five times larger than the contents.

Why couldnt the supplier just put the cards in a padded envelope. It would probably been cheaper to post as well.

Amazon - cardboard box easily big enough for a couple of volumes of Encylopedia Brittanica. Contents? Inflated Bags and one CD. ffs.

The waste disposal place where we get rid of our cardboard is always overflowing with "cartons".
On the other hand it keeps the postmen in a job. We buy a lot from Amazon because we live so far from big shopping centres.

In today`s paper, pictures of 48 boxes delivered to a lady`s house, took up all the delivery man`s van space, containing..........a 24 piece dinner service from Tesco. Each item was in 2 boxes. Then they tell us to save the trees!

AND as I understand, 2 items arrived broken!!!
You couldn't make it up!!

It was the item in the DM that triggered my OP. I had just read the story when the bell went and the postman handed me my ove-rpackaged item.

The only adavantage is that the box and packing are just the right size for the vase I am currently selling on ebay!
