yes I agree trendy in time I may start to look at holidays (single room etc) and I have seen the silly supplements, it's almost discrimination for single travelers. (bit like the tin of beans scenario, a small tin of beans only a few pence less than large tin) bean for bean it costs more to buy the smaller tin!! [huh]!

It might be..... if single you are likely to use your bike more.
If married it is possibly assumed that some traveling would be done in the (assumed) car of dh.
Just a thought.

Same discrimination as the Single Supplement applied to holidays. Makes it impossible to afford many holidays, especially those abroad. Not many things make me angry, but that REALLY MAKES ME MAD. I did not choose to lose my DH!

huh!! and now!! £48 added to my scooter insurance because I am "unemployed" will I ever get going.!! I put homemaker, as thats what I usually but I should have put "unemployed" didn't think it mattered that much, but anyway as the company was rude and off hand I cancelled the insurance ( which cost me £42)only had it 2 days.Tut...back to the drawing board smile

I think it's all to do with statistics, biker.

Unfair to those of us who are widowed or single, yes, but then I always thought it was quite odd that the car insurance quote I had for my car was lower if I added DH as another named driver. Why? confused

Perhaps they think all singletons are by definition reckless and careless...

Unfair situation and I should like to hear their explanation.

Evening all....thought I would bring this to your attention.! I am fumming!
Today I have bought a scooter (well my dad has for me)!
it is a 125 scooter 6 yrs ol but as new only done around 500 miles from new. so was a good buy..ok so far so good.

I have shopped around for insurance Fully Comprehensive.
got a few quotes (on line) yesterday, so tonight have come to check them.
On one section you put down if you are "Married/single/divorced/widowed/civil partnership etc etc "
So of course I put "widowed" it came back at £118 for the year (bit steep I thought for my age and 6 yrs no claim etc)
I then played around with it and changed it from widowed to single?
came up with the same £118
BUT!! and heres where it gets my blood boiling...I changed it to
"Married" and this is when the hu ha starts.
the price I get if I am married is £94 !!!!!!!! £26 cheaper!! why??? angry
