Going topless in the street

Yesterday was a lovely day so we went for a stroll locally. While we were walking we were passed by a jogger, a man, probably 40s or 50s. He was wearing trainers and full length jogging bottoms - and nothing else. AIBU to think that this is wrong? He was running/jogging down a main road in a residential area and it wasn't that hot. What's wrong with a vest or running top or t shirt? On a beach, no issue of course, but this was the high street and it was hardly sweltering. It just looked odd and not right

It would not bother me, it's up to him. What harm is he doing to anyone? He clearly does not see it as wrong, and at least he is doing something to keep himself fit.

I have to admit I don't like seeing guys topless in the streets, although there is no real harm in it. It just seems a tad disrespectful, and when they're not 'fit', it can look pretty disgusting (when they are 'fit' it's a slightly different matter! ).

I wouldn't do it - it would frighten the horses. grin

Anniebach Mon 16-May-16 14:36:27

His choice , perhaps he finds it more comfortable, it wouldn't bother me

Some things are just not worth getting into a flap over and this is one of them

I think inappropriate but not the end of the world.

M0nica Mon 16-May-16 15:41:43

It was acceptable in Poldark.

Alima Mon 16-May-16 16:03:46

Yes but he had a scythe. Most don't have. It does make a difference.

M0nica Mon 16-May-16 16:05:14

Well, lets insist all men walking naked to the waist in a public area have to be carrying a scythe.

Anniebach Mon 16-May-16 16:05:59

Should he have jogged down the street carrying a scythe grin that would have given cause for concern

I thought this thread was going to be about women going topless in the street! TBH I don't see what's wrong with a man jogging topless - I do object to half-dressed people of either sex in shops and supermarkets though!

grannylyn65 Mon 16-May-16 16:10:49

Finding this thread grin

M0nica Mon 16-May-16 16:28:18

With a bit of luck he would have tripped over it. Possibly it could be a rule that in all situations where women have to wear high heels, men have to carry scythes.

Alima Mon 16-May-16 16:50:39

Think that would upset health and safety. The scythes would be fine, it is the high heels I am concerned about.

Naked to the waist + scythe == grin

Naked below waist + scythe == hmm

I did see a man jogging in a mankini. not a good combination.

Badenkate Mon 16-May-16 17:14:39

Naked below the waist + scythe seems a bit risky to me shock

Wheniwasyourage Mon 16-May-16 17:30:09

Surely that depends on where he's pointing the scythe, Badenkate...

Grannyknot Mon 16-May-16 17:39:55

This conversation could only be taking place in a country with a cold climate. In a country with lots of [sunshine and heat no one would bat an eyelid ...

Grannyknot Mon 16-May-16 17:40:36

Drat, that should be sunshine and heat!

GarlicCake Mon 16-May-16 17:49:42

I did see a man jogging in a mankini. shock shock shock

What was he thinking of?! No. Don't answer that.

Glad you survived!

You can use a scythe for its intended purpose perfectly safely in bare feet, well, bare everything actually.

Marmark1 Mon 16-May-16 18:37:07

Not always a nice sight, but, you can't complain, women bare their breasts every day.

Ana Mon 16-May-16 18:39:38

In the street? confused

Marmark1 Tue 17-May-16 07:55:03
