They don't deserve your custom, you are right to change to another agent. Two people I know have had houses on the market recently, one went with a small new company and have been messed about for months. Supposed to of sold but has now had to put it back on the market. The other person went with a well established local company, had loads of viewings and the house sold within a month. Not the cheapest option, but by far the more professional in the way they have handled things.
We are in the process of selling our home, hopefully we'll complete by the end of this month. Our estate agent is wonderful and is helping make a stressful event much easier to deal with.
You're doing the right thing by going to another agent. I hope all goes smoothly for you.
Definitely change agent and let them and their head office know why! When you think of how much you'll be paying them their service is appalling and very unprofessional.
If that is how they treat you before they have your business it does not bode well for when you have signed with them. A decent estate agent can be worth their weight in gold. I would give them the bum's rush, tell 'em to poke off and engage an agent who will actually earn the commission. Is the housing market on such a high in your area that an agent can afford to throw custom away?
We have just bought a bungalow and the agent selling it was mega-efficient. Any emails that I sent to him had a reply by phone or email before the day was out. I would certainly recommend them to anyone else.
In the first place the agent should not have left a text, there should have been a phone call so that they were aware that you had or had not been advised of the cancellation.
Because of their inefficiency since then I wouldn't have them about me. And I'd tell them why.
We're just at the beginning of the process of moving . We arranged for a valuation on Tuesday at 2pm. At 2:30 I checked my phone and found I'd missed a text from the agents, the valuer had been sent home sick so they weren't coming.
My fault. I should have had my phone with me.
I was a bit miffed because we'd had a thorough clean through and wasted a day but because I felt to blame for half the wasted time I rearranged for today at 2pm.
They didn't come.
I called at 2:30 , got routed to an overflow call centre where a lady promised she'd get back to me. I called again at 3 and got through to the branch who told me it wasn't in the diary. They promised the manager would call. He called at 4 ( and I was driving as I'd waited in all day and needed milk) . His voice mail told me his name , said he had been told about the failed appt and realised there was some issue. If I wanted to discuss him to call back.
Not one word of apology.
Am I wrong to feel miffed?? I expected a sincere apology after all the commission from the sale of our house would be fairly substantial . But I feel I didn't even get half an apology . Or is it just one of those things, I should suck it up and reschedule?
I want to say when hell freezes over :-) ....what would you say ?
