I went in to the village shop to collect my usual copy of the Radio Times to find the price had increased by 70p shock

The reason? It included an extra section giving the whole 16 day television schedule for the Olympics. confused

I don't want it, I don't need it, and I doubt that I'm the only person who feels that way.

Why couldn't they have offered it as an optional extra, rather than just applying a blanket price increase for all readers?

Wake me up when it is all over!

I so agree Phoenix. I pulled out my supplement to offer my GCs, but I didn't want or need it. I checked the price expecting it to be the same as usual, silly me! I haven't the slightest interest in the Olympics and am sure I am not alone.

That is a lot of dosh to add to something like that. It used to be added for free, but times are obviously hard. I agree, not everybody wants to buy it. I watch the Olympics but I get my information from the TV. I would not pay for it, but I am a mean Scot.

I haven't paid for a Radio Times for years. I hardly ever consult the TV supplement in the paper either. I use the TV guide on the TV. We have freesat it has a very good TV guide.

I didn't know it was still going.

I wouldn't have bought it. Plenty of other places to find a schedule. It's mainly olympics any way. Damn cheek to put up the price like that.

What a cheek, totally agree Phoenix, always finding ways to rip off the public.

Oh, I hadn't noticed the price hike! We get the RT delivered (we think it's a good read, much more than just a viewing schedule) and I just thought what a bonus it was to have such a comprehensive guide to the games. In our case, though, we enjoy them... smile

This issue was our first by post and was included in an offer of £1 for 12 issues - so we did quite well there! - not that we want the Olympic pull-out!! - so maybe we didn't.

I was tempted to refuse it, but we get it from our village shop, and I wouldn't want them to lose out.

We don't pick it up until Saturday morning (I think it is available from midweek?) as I wouldn't want Mr P to get over excited looking at the wonderful viewing opportunities too far ahead!

I am, of course joking, most of the programmes are either repeats or reality type stuff featuring "celebs" that we have never heard of! (Don't mind that Paul O'Grady thing with dogs though)
