To expect people to return things they've borrowed?

My sister lent Dad a book and when he finished it he gave it to a charity shop.She made him go and get it back. That was years ago and he still hasn't heard the last of it

Marmight, I loved your story and the happy ending. Years ago when returning from a holiday in Corfu, we were approached by a young man with a sob story. DH lent/gave him some money, and it was promised to be sent on to us. Needless to say,36 years later we are still waiting.

I'm really angry about this at the moment. In September my daughter and her friend wanted to buy tickets to a Take That concert. My daughter asked me to get on line and order them ad they were both working and they would pay me on payday.. Managed to get tickets for them and daughters partner paid me for her ticket as a Christmas present for her. The friend text me on their payday to say that as she had some time off sick her wages were low so could she pay me next payday (today). On FB this morning I see her status 'payday and Black Friday over spent . Oopps'. Checked my bank account and no money paid. Have text her but no reply yet. It really annoys me that she hasn't paid her depts first. Rant over.
