Every time I see Caitlin Moran's photo she is pulling a funny face. I see the same terrible photo in the Times every weekend and have yet to see her anywhere trying to looking normal . Perhaps she has image issues who knows but I refuse to read anything she writes because it makes me so mad.

Nicola Sturgeon needs a slap with using namesake

What really gets up my nose? Fat shaming
In my opinion anyone who tries to fat shame another person with their cruel and thoughtless comments in judging another person for their weight actually shames themselves. So often the people making the comments know little, if anything, of the person that they are verbally abusing. The media often promote fat shaming comments in their articles and in doing so are promoting a form of bullying as people in general conversation think it's quite acceptable to do the same now.

This is a really negative thread - shame on you Grannies.

But since you are asking, Katie Hopkins!!

It used to be Giles Brandreth, but (showing off now) eldest son and his wife were featured in a house swap programme directed by him and they said he was very pleasant to work with.
I think Katie Hopkins too - she has a slot on LBC now.

Laura Koenss-thingy, Steph McGovern and Huw Edwards - totally smug and slappable, all of them. Oh, and Ben Stiller.

rigby you ask what's meant by intolerance.

Literally it means 'not bearing things' and in the context of this threads it means disliking people you don't know and have never met because you have made some sort of judgement about them based on their appearance or how they have appeared on television.

Being intolerant of people is quite different from not tolerating social injustice and I think you belittle those who have fought racism, sexism, discrimination on grounds of religion etc by implying in your post that they have anything in common with the small-minded intolerance that is being expressed by some on this thread.

Rigby46 Tue 07-Mar-17 18:15:00

Well it didn't read that way - it sounded sanctimonious and stated that intolerance got up the posters nose - so I took it at face value . Anyway, what's wrong with a thread that I guess was meant to be somewhat lighthearted about people that that irritate you? And don't be so ridiculous about my belittling people who fought against all the examples I gave - of course I wasn't implying any such thing as having anything in common with what you see as the small minded intolerance being expressed on this thread - I was actually giving intolerance the weight it should have rather than the rather snidey way it was being used by some on this thread. ' needs a slap'
' totally smug and slappable'
' slapping list'

Good grief!

MawBroon Tue 07-Mar-17 22:37:24

Oh ffinnochio I am a peaceable soul, but anyone who can say of little redheads such as my adorable carrot topped DGS,
"Ginger babies? Just like ordinary babies but so much harder to love" (Katie Hopkins) is lucky to get away with just a slap angryangry

Jalima Tue 07-Mar-17 23:24:10

I know that Katie Hopkins has had a bad time of it having had brain surgery to cure her epilepsy and I wouldn't wish anyone ill, but it would have been karma if her hair had grown back in a lovely shade of ginger.

PamelaJ1 Wed 08-Mar-17 05:25:31

Most of the above?

BlueBelle Wed 08-Mar-17 05:53:57

Oh I need to add David Walliams to my list

Anya Wed 08-Mar-17 06:54:38

You are depriving yourself of some of the funniest, cleverest, most moving journalism around today. What the hell does it matter if she pulls a face for the camera?
Approving what an author looks like is usually not a prerequisite for reading their work.

Well said Nona4ever

It's not who gets up my nose, but what gets up my nose.....questions like this OP inviting this kind of dislike for those they have never met.

Yuk! Just listen to yourselves.

Riverwalk Wed 08-Mar-17 07:05:41

Caitlin Moran is a very talented and successful writer and been so for over 20 years.

Not bad for a girl from a council estate in Wolverhampton who left school aged 11.

Greenfinch Wed 08-Mar-17 07:11:22

I have never heard of her and so would not recognise her.

ginny Wed 08-Mar-17 07:23:59

MawBroon, who wants to be ordinary anyway ?

annodomini Wed 08-Mar-17 07:59:26

Who gets up my nose? A very competent ENT surgeon did just that and relieved my sinus of a very nasty chronic infection!

grannypiper Wed 08-Mar-17 08:07:31

Anya i have met Nicola Sturgeon so i can truthfully say i cant stand her.

Largolass Wed 08-Mar-17 08:17:47

Nicola Sturgeon was my Solicitor many moons ago....
