I remember you being on the chase Elrel and very good you where too.
I also have a claim to fame ..GD and I where doing a slot for children in need DV charity leeway...BBCs susie fowler -watt came to my house with camera man...but we had to be hidden as our whereabouts are/where protected..so my lounge and my voice where on TV..and my lovely black lab ellie was on screen whilst me and E where interviewed and she took to it like a duck to water..no animal was harmed or makeup required.
I think sometimes that the men look very odd with tv make-up on, a kind of beige appearance with strange flesh coloured lipstick.
Awww! Thanks, Jalima and Callgirl! It wasn't a lot of makeup but the person who did it was very quick and competent. She gave my hair a quick smoothing over and spray as far as I remember. One of the men suddenly realised on the train back to St Pancras that he hadn't wiped off his makeup. He was very concerned but it barely showed!
When I was on telly all they did was go over my lipstick and dab a bit of powder on! You did look nice on your telly appearance Elrel.
Did they do your hair and makeup Elrel?
(you looked very nice )
I was on telly once as well - Songs of Praise, about half a second. Did my own hair and makeup, in fact I probably didn't have time as I was helping to shepherd a group of small choir boys.
I was on telly once too ...
Ducks and runs ???
I totally agree with SAAK that your husband is 100 per cent to blame. This woman might be ringing him because she feels devastated. Your husband should be dealing with this, and if she is becoming threatning maybe call the Police or get a solicitor.
The lady concerned did not need to have this aired on national tv so that you could get your revenge, just horrible, having your husband back should be enough for you.
I know you do not care what others think, however on aibu you are asking if we think you are being unreasonable and I think you are. I am glad you and your husband are reconciled, but their is another very hurt woman in this.
Mmmm .... took the all make-up off, except the eye stuff. Shallow or what? Mr Janetblogs you have my full sympathy. No wonder you had a bit on the side, love ... probably someone a lot less self-absorbed and needy. Guess you got fed-up with constantly being asked 'Does my bum look big in this?'
I do actually wonder if this ego-maniac is for real.I smell a journo wind-up.
OP's husband had an affair, she won him back and they are reconciled, but it seems that this isn't enough for her. She went on TV to talk (crow?) about it, and has posted on here asking opinions but not really wanting any. It seems to me (and I freely admit I could be completely wrong) that actually getting him back hasn't been the great success she expected, in fact it has been a bit of a let down, so she wants us to keep congratulating her.
but you asked what people thought did you not?
I sort of supported you OP but I've totally changed my mind. It's your husband that was married to you and cheated, your husband is 100% to blame for this.
Yes, I do feel a bit sorry for the other woman.
I can understand how you feel wanting revenge.
However, can't help feeling a tad sorry for her too, I may not have been so forgiving of your husband.
Although I have a friend this happened to and they reconciled and are still happy and together 40 years on.
Thank you all for your comments - u took the make up off the moment I got home - apart from the eyes - as it felt so heavy - hair wasn't too much different - my whole family were well aware of what went on and husband was castigated by all
And as for the other woman - I don't care whether or not she got hurt upset anguished etc - for months after he broke it up she kept on phoning ribging and threatening him so that was my revenge
And I don't actually care what anybody else thinks - we did what was right for us
Not hypocritical at all, maybe learned behaviour? If you think about it, this woman grew up with a mother that cheated and her father forgave. So in this instance the man cheated and the woman forgave. It might have been her way of cancelling things out.
The best bit was, my mother had been having an affair for years, taunting my dad with it. So hypocritical.
I have said in a previous post about the terrible unhappines cheating causes and I have witnessed this, however on this occasion I wonder how the other woman feels, she stayed with this man for a long time, so presumably had feelings for him. Seeing this couple on television discussing the affair may have caused her upset and distress.
I agree. I wrote earlier that it might deter some men from straying, or could do the opposite. But the points about family feelings are more important.
Does the OP have children? How did they feel about their parents appearing on TV? It does seem to me an awful thing to do to your children.
Rubylady That is my big disagreement with people washing their dirty linen in public, Jeremy Kyle style.
There could easily be consequenses for relatives children etc who also get gossiped about or bullied at school. "OOh look what your mum did."
My mother went on Kilroy some years ago to air her dirty washing over my dad. She asked me to go with her to be in the audience. I couldn't think of anything worse and was so embarrassed that she was doing it. My sister did go with her but I didn't watch the episode and never have.
I can't believe she would show herself up like this and put herself on national television to humiliate my dad. He would never have done that to her. She humiliated me too that day.
There's also a saying that no one knows what goes on behind closed door too. I'd rather linen, whether dirty or clean get's an airing.
hondagirl have you considered that GN may not be the right forum for your delicate nature.
Perhaps you really would be more at home on your more rigidly-monitored forums while GN carries on as it has for several years - as quite a broad church.
Please do not interpret this post as bullying.
Chacun à son goût?
But I do think the bits on Cardinal Polish and Donkey stones were the most interesting on the thread. I really don't care who is having it off with who, or if they stay married or not. There used to be a saying about not airing your dirty linen in public I believe.
I wouldn't have thought that Janetblogs is feeling more sad or unhappy as a result of this thread.
She has been reassured that she does not look fat (and bearing in mind the camera is supposed to add 7lbs anyway) she looks just fine
Malcolm doesn't deserve her and she is very forgiving to take him back
The OP was posted in quite a light-hearted way, not asking for support in her anguish.
Question for Janet - did you take the makeup off at night or, as Mary Berry claimed she does, leave it on for the next day because it lasts well? And did you like your hair?
Added to all that, Janet now has more material for her journalistic articles - it's good to have a range of opinions.
