...at the bottom of each thread there are adverts for nappies, baby seats, parenting tricks, maternity bras and maternity pillows amongst others? I realise they may interest some Grans or even Grandads, but they really irritate me and there seems no way to delete them

Agreed Mollie
They're connected to Mumsnet and not just adverts but all about pregnancy but why they think "These may also interest you" I fail to see.

ninathenana Sun 28-Jan-18 08:44:16

Marmight so sorry for using the wrong name
Sorry Mollie too

This is on the mobile site and has happened since the new local forums went live. Think they just copied from Mumsnet. I emailed GNHQ about it last week.

Are you on the mobile site? You get ads on the desktop site but they are at the side, not at the bottom. To get ads for nappies and car seats would be slightly less disturbing than the one for some kind of assault rifle that keeps cropping up on mine!! Heaven knows what “triggered” that one! ?. I’m not a homicidal maniac, honest, Guv.

X your post, Pitt!

MawBroon Sun 28-Jan-18 08:58:21

Wait until you get the ads for frozen legs of lamb [grn]

MawBroon Sun 28-Jan-18 08:58:53

grin even

ninathenana Sun 28-Jan-18 08:59:04

Yes, mobile site.

Bellasnana Sun 28-Jan-18 09:14:18

Greyduster grin

I got one for boob jobs yesterday. How insulting, my boobs being so perky and perfect and all. grin

Nelliemoser Sun 28-Jan-18 09:29:30

Well I am fairly sure the majority of us grans will not be getting pregnant and needing baby equipment. The advertisers are probably hoping us the Baby Boomer generation will fork out for their grand kids equipment,

Jane10 Sun 28-Jan-18 09:44:42

I'm being offered marriage records online?!

Marmight Sun 28-Jan-18 10:31:33

grin
And what's more, probably because I'm in Australia but I don't see why, all the small red icons at the bottom of each thread come up in Chinese for a couple of seconds before reverting to English confused

felice Sun 28-Jan-18 10:43:05

I am getting adds for hearing aids in Flemish but sometimes it is for BMW in French.^[hmm ]

Marmight Sun 28-Jan-18 10:59:54

Aubergine - not red blush

hildajenniJ Sun 28-Jan-18 12:02:57

Apart from the Mumsnet pregnancy and baby stuff right at the bottom, I'm getting adverts from a plus size clothing company. I'm only a size 14 honest!

BlueBelle Sun 28-Jan-18 12:07:24

I m on the mobile site and get NO adverts at the bottom I have one for a shop called Corneliani across the top and a small one at the side for Fragrance direct but that’s all and nothing at all at the bottom

M0nica Sun 28-Jan-18 12:15:26

I only access GN on my laptop and have Adblocker installed so do not get any ads.

Jalima1108 Sun 28-Jan-18 12:23:09

I've got an Adblocker

[smug]

Jalima1108 Sun 28-Jan-18 12:24:24

Marmight I understand that Mandarin is being introduced to the curriculum in Australia
and very sensible too

Jalima1108 Sun 28-Jan-18 12:25:09

ps I meant to add, it's just so that you can practise your Mandarin wink

Bellanonna Sun 28-Jan-18 12:38:47

On the mobile site. I just get that Corneliani ad, nothing else.

ninathenana Sun 28-Jan-18 12:46:41

Mumsnet pregnancy calendar
'Congratulations your pregnant'

Er, impossible actually

Pittcity Sun 28-Jan-18 13:29:37

I have an adblocker too. This is not an ad but a part of GN.
On the desktop site it is a shortcuts menu, but on mobile the links are to MN subjects such as pregnancy and buying highchairs....
