AIBU coats on chair-backs

AIBU to be annoyed when family and friends hang march straight past the hall cupboard and coat hooks and hang their outdoor clothes on the straight backed kitchen chairs?

To me it looks untidy and is quite unnecessary as there is room in the cupboard for coats or jackets that should be on hangers and pegs for the more casual garments to be hung up on.

I'm talking of dry outdoor garments, not things soaked through by the rain!

Neither my requests to use the coat-pegs, nor my just removing garments to the "right" place are taken any notice of.

Anyone else with the same problem?

We always hang our coats away as do the family so that is fine BUT when the DGC come to stay they do not use the chests of drawers, wardrobes etc but everything lives in heaps on the floor. We make a point of keeping our eyes averted as all is tidy when they leave! grin

If I put them away they'll probably jump in the car and go home without them. Leaving them on the hall radiator reminds them to put them on before they go home.

I have to admit we are lucky we have hangers on a stand as you come inside the door, everyone takes their things off and hangs them up, without anyone saying anything. Likewise in this country, everyone takes their shoes off inside the front door, it may look like a shoe shop at times when there are a lot of visitors, but everyones house is the same here.No complaints!

My DH was always hanging coats and cardigans on the kitchen chairs or over the back of the sofa. Enter one little puppy and then a jacket and cardigan with the zips chewed and now all his clothes are put away.

I have a photograph taken many years ago on Hogmanay of over a dozen pairs of Doc Martens - all colours - heaped in my vestibule, plus a pile of jackets. Sixteen year old DD had been out for the evening with friends, to celebrate New Year. By the time they reached our house about 1.30, the group had swelled in number. I can remember rushing about getting out more 'supplies'. They were all in good spirits (no obvious drunkenness) and all well behaved. Did I line up the boots and hang up the jackets? No way. I was delighted to see them. Happy days!

I remember years ago a visitor put her fur coat on the spare bed and the cat came in and regurgitated a baby rabbit on it! Awful mess!

Honestly you need some real problems in your life!
(No, I don't really wish anything bad on you) - but seriously .... lighten up and enjoy your visitors
