anyone else have this problem!

Over the last year or so I have tried not to think about it..but it is happening a lot! and seems to be getting worse.

In my younger yrs I blushed at the blink of an eyelid..I was quite shy etc etc .

Just recently (well over as I say the last 12 mnths or so) I ts happening again..Its seems to be people who I havn't seen for a while..both male and female.

I work on a checkout at supermarket and chat all the time when Im there..then when I spot someone (as I did today) whom I haven't seen for a while I go BRIGHT RED! I try not to look at them and try to recover myself whilst serving the customer that Im dealing with...but I can feel myself going redder n redder .

As Im paled skin anyway it really shows...I feel a right dohhh!

It seems to be worse when im at work but does happen outside work as well..

Any one else suddenly finding themselves with this problem.
I think Im pretty confident in my job..its just seeing certain people. hmm

I’m not sure if I blush any more ( I did when I was a tennager) but I know what you mean, my heart sort of constricts a bit & I feel flustered. I think I am not very good at small talk, especially if I haven’t seen said persons for a while, I usually over compensate by babbling away about anything that come into my head. I try to tell myself it is not solely my responsibility to manage the situation, but I think I am a lost cause ?

I did this up until a few years ago, now that I'm in my 60's it seems to have stopped, thankfully!!

It sounds as if it is your reaction to a potentially embarrassing moment/situation , which is what blushing is, the body is pumping blood around faster for the fight or flight response. Are you nervous in your new job?

I don't mean to be an old misery, but is there a chance you could have rosacea?

MissA I do have a little roscea but ..its not that ..I can only think it must be a sort of nervous thing that has crept up on me...been worse since..dh passed, thin k it may be a confidence thing.

Not nervous in job been there almost 2 yrs now face to face with customers from day one ( when I nearly ran off lol)

I will have a chat with myself , see if that does any good. thanks all.

Bikergran... Blushing does seem to be a factor of pale skin. I used to blush so much too. BUT the more you think about blushing the more an issue it becomes, A) it isn't always that obvious to other people as you think and B) I started focusing on OTHER people. By that I mean, IF you can start thinking in your head...what a big nose, ears, mouth that (guy/woman) has, it does lessen. If anyone mentions it...just laugh it off ( again it helps)

My teenage years were positively ruined because I thought I blushed so much and dreaded certain social events. But you know what? Asking years later, absolutely nobody remembered me for blushing, just for me being fun!!!

I think all you need to do is 'embrace' it, laugh about it, focus on other people and you will get over it.

I think blushing is very attractive, myself. smile
Its quite endearing!
