Any other single grans out there seeking support?

BlueBelle Mon 13-Aug-18 07:49:10

I m a single gran
I m not sure what you mean by seeking support do you mean let’s have some solidarity together or do you mean you re looking for some physical support in way of groups in your area or meet ups ?

I am single now but I do not need support.

Single mum, single gran, never been anything but single but not sure what kind of support you think I might be in need of?

Single Mum, single Grandmother, hope you find what you are looking for.

I’ve always been a single (widowed) grandma. I’ve never given it a thought. What’s the problem?

Single (widowed mother and grandmother) , been so for over 40 years so use to it.

Oh, I know where you are coming from, Florabunda! All my grandchildren’s other gps are couples and, while I have a partner, he doesn’t live with me, and has health problems so can’t be much practical help. As an example: I was in London to look after my granddaughter for a couple of days. Her other gps were due to take over. My daughter told her husband he had to be home next day to put his daughter to bed since she would be working late. I said “why can’t Mand P do it?” My son in law said “ well, my mum is 70, it’s too hard for her.” I am 6 months younger than her, and two years older than her husband, and had bathed and put my granddaughter to bed each night on my own. They both looked surprised and said “you’re not nearly seventy, are you?” So yes, I do think sometimes children forget a) how old you are and b) you’re doing this on your own!

Oh DoraMarr I agree with you about the age thing - I look after DGS almost full time and I swear DD thinks I am still her age most of the time ?

Divorced many years ago so became single mum and then single gran.
What sort of support do you think I may need?
If you're seeking support you may need to be more specific.

I am (obviously) a single granny too, lost my DH before gc were born. I give my DD and her husband a lot of support and am pleased to do it, but I do sometimes get a little irritated by couple grandparents talking about the things they can do with and for their gc that would be so much more difficult for a single. The other GPS in my case are younger than me but don't give much help, too busy doing nice couple things ! Don't see what support can be given to us though , its the way life is .

Singlegrannie I feel ike you
Sometimes a little envious of couple GP doing their thing but overall I really enjoy my GC and what time I have with them
