AIBU to wonder if this will serve any serious purpose?

May was a remainer and Corbyn is a secret brexiteer - it's probably more of a run-up to a General Election hmm

Apparently it's scheduled for the same time as the I'm a celebrity final.
Maybe they should combine the two, might make more sense.

It was not 100% certain that Jeremy Corbyn would appear- at present I do not think we know who will for the Labour Party.

lemongrove Thu 29-Nov-18 14:35:25

I heard that he was keen to do it Charley grin which just shows it depends on which news you hear it.
I can’t see it making much difference, as it’s MP’s who will be voting on the deal anyway. It may clarify a few points in voters heads though, about it.

Will anyone bother to watch it when they have no say in the vote. I certainly will not, Christmas is coming up, we are planning to have the builders in, I need to rake up the leaves, watch paint dry etc etc, far too many more important things to do.

DH will certainly watch it but I’ve had enough of Brexit. I’m worried enough about the future and I think they have already said everything that can be said. Even if we did have a say the chances are that the country still would not agree on what needs to happen. This feeling inside reminds me of the early 1970’s when there was fear about nuclear bombs. I can’t help feeling that civil unrest could be the result if we bomb out, food and commodity prices rise and unemployment rises with a huge increase in poverty. Those who are making these decisions will be the last to suffer the consequences.
To set the record straight, I’m a Remainer but would rather have the proposed deal rather than no deal.

One to miss I feel. These set pieces are usually unedifying and do not take the discussion any further forward. You won't get that hour (or whatever) of your life back!

JC wants to accept ITV offer not BBC.

yggdrasil Thu 29-Nov-18 16:09:43

Not surprising, given how the BBC conducts 'debates' while claiming to be unbiassed

cornergran Thu 29-Nov-18 16:15:47

It won’t be watched here. I get a sick feeling when I think of potential consequences and Mr C is too frustrated with politicians to be rational. I can’t see what it could achieve, but then I’m not a politician.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-Nov-18 16:40:17

Sorry but I shall be watching the I'm a Celebrity Final.

With you there ayse. I too worry about civil unrest & I’m sorry to say that I think another referendum could well have that result too.
angry and sad that our democracy has come to this.

kittylester Thu 29-Nov-18 17:38:02

Exactly jane. Completely agree.

humptydumpty Thu 29-Nov-18 18:27:48

Ah well if JC gets his way, we know it won't interfere Granny - I'm with you!

Labaik Thu 29-Nov-18 18:43:36

'Not surprising, given how the BBC conducts 'debates' while claiming to be unbiassed'..totally agree with that. Needs to be ITV or Ch4. If it is on the BBC I'd prefer Dimbleby not to chair it....
