I Don’t watch it often , but just turned on only to see the graphc stabbing of the character Shona by her on screen son on Coronation Street, mainstream T.V between 7.30 & 8 pm.
I do wonder if T.V imatates reality as programme makers say it does OR does it normalise & promote it?
Personally I think it’s wrong, lots of youngish children are still up at this time , & I’m sure that a lot of parents would not have been expecting this level of violence so early in the evening.?Goal posts are being moved Imo!

I’m waiting to see what Tyrone has got in mind for his nana at the garage (to pay the debt off) , surely she would frighten the customers off .

It will bound to be something she’ll mess up / refuse to do, unlike Gail working at David’s barber shop which I think is quite funny.

I do get really irritated by some of the silly characters, absurd story lines, violence, drug taking, drinking etc. in the soaps. Doesn't stop me watching though! blush Can't wait for the exit of Michelle in Corrie - if she's not crying she's screeching like a fish wife. And Maya in Emmerdale is really giving me the creeps with that awful stare and manipulating voice. She was in a radio play a short while ago and I recognised her voice immediately. When I realised it was her I couldn't listen to it anymore!

I agree about Michelle willow (although I think the door is being left open for her to come back sometime in the future) and would add Rana ( the lesbian nurse) to the list of those I would like to see written out . She’s just permanently in floods of tears and snots .

I am another unashamed Corrie fan ! Of course some of the storylines have been daft, but I still watch!

There is a lot of snobbery (I don't mean on here!) about tv soaps but the standard of acting by some of the cast is superb.

I guess Roy comes to mind - no silly hysterical histrionics
but he is able to convey so much by a tiny change in expression.

I also love Tyrone's gran. I think this is where Corrie scores with its elderly bossy matriarchs delivering brilliantly funny put downs.

I guess we all remember Maureen Lipman in the BT adverts, so proud of her grandson with an 'ology' !!

Ooh yes! Corrie does older women so well. Blanche was a treat. I also always enjoyed Phyllis Pearce - remember her and her lilac hair?
I've always liked Eileen (and her elastic house!)
I agree with gillybob on who needs to go. Michelle's overacting is so irritating too. I unashamedly love Corrie!

'Floods of tears and snots' - nicely put gillybob! grin

I've watched Corrie since the beginning and still do although it is not what it was, too much violence and not enough humour. At least one character is going shortly when the (spoiler alert!) factory roof falls in. I'm hoping it will be Gina, a very annoying character, and not Beth or Kirky.
